Sr. Afro-Urban Dance Team
A high-energy, audition-only competitive team for dedicated teen dancers ready to elevate their training and performance skills. Rooted in West African foundations, the program blends Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, and contemporary urban movement.
Dancers will develop advanced choreography, technique, musicality, strength, stamina, stage presence, and their own artistic style while preparing for dance competitions, Afiwi performances, and community events. The program also builds confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, cultural pride, positive self-expression, and a strong sense of belonging.
Placement is by audition only. Dancers must demonstrate commitment, strong attendance, a positive attitude, and readiness to grow as part of a team.

An engaging drumming class for students who have mastered the fundamentals and are ready to explore more complex Malinké rhythms. Students will strengthen their technique, timing, speed, musicality, improvisation, and ensemble skills while deepening their understanding of West African rhythm, culture, and tradition. This class prepares drummers for advanced performances while building confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and cultural pride. Drummers will experience master drummers, field trips to see performances.

Through hands-on instruction, students will learn proper playing techniques, foundational rhythms, basic hand patterns, timing, tempo, and call-and-response. The class develops coordination, focus, active listening, confidence, discipline, and teamwork while building an appreciation for West African music, culture, and community traditions. No previous drumming experience is required.
This is a 9-month long program with year-end showcase commitment
