1. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Studio Performing Arts Center is a comprehensive facility for the performing arts and offers classes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical dance, contemporary dance, voice, acting and musical theatre. Study is considered on-going for all art forms. “School year” enrollment spans the traditional school year from September-June, with payment broken up into four “terms” for convenience and financial budgeting. The payment due dates are as follows: September 8, 2025, November 17, 2025, January 19, 2026 and March 30, 2026. There is also an additional six week “summer session” available mid June through July 2026 as well as a one week Musical Theatre Day Camp (July 13-17, 2026) and a one week Dance Day Camp (July 20-24, 2026).
2. REGISTRATION FEE: There is a non-refundable registration fee of $40 per student, charged once per year when signing up for classes
3. TUITION: Tuition must be paid in full at the beginning of each term or put into a monthly automatic plan when registering. Only payments made in full may be accepted on credit card or debit card transactions. If tuition is not paid within 10 days of the date due, a $10.00 late fee will automatically be added to the tuition unless other arrangements have been made. If paying monthly or in payments, payments must be received by the end of each payment term in order to continue for the next term. If payment is not paid, you will forfeit your place in the class until the amount due is paid. There is no guarantee your place will still be held if you are delinquent in payment. If you are assessed a late fee, it will automatically be added to the next terms’ invoice. We accept cash, check, ACH, money orders, Visa and MasterCard.
4. REFUNDS/CREDITS/MISSED CLASSES: Refunds are only applicable during the first two weeks of the 1st term. If a student misses a class due to illness or other, the student can inquire about make up classes. In most cases, there are classes where a makeup class can be accommodated, but we do not guarantee that the same level class will always be available. It is important to please notify us when you are intending to miss a class. There are no extensions or credits given for missed classes. Students are expected to make up missed classes within the same term when the absence occurs. Please note we do not give makeup classes for missed voice lessons, private coaching or acting/musical theatre classes. In addition, while we don’t anticipate this happening, if you decide to discontinue lessons at any point, we ask you give us a month courtesy notice in writing before discontinuing. This notice will allow us to fill your spot from any waiting list, and we can adjust our automatic billing cycle to reflect the change.
5. DROP OFF and PICK UP: Students should arrive at least 10 minutes early and be dressed and ready to participate at their scheduled time. Parents or caregivers for those students under age 12 should stay with students until their class is in session. Students should be picked up promptly at their class ending time. Children under the age of 12 cannot be left unattended in the waiting room or lobby. Please pick up students at the back door and make sure not to park at the top of the hill as this blocks other drivers from entering or leaving the parking lot. For safety reasons, students should enter
and exit from the downstairs back door and leave all boots/shoes at the downstairs entrance. Coats and boots may be hung up on the rungs in the downstairs hallway and placed underneath on the mats. There are two bathrooms downstairs for changing.
6. PARKING: Parking is available directly in back of The Studio in our private parking lot. If our lot is too full, you may also park next door at the strip mall parking lot located on Grand River and walk back up to The Studio. Please do not part at the top of the hill by the front door for any reason.
7. PARENTS/SIBLINGS/DISTRACTIONS: Parents and siblings are welcome to stay in the downstairs lobby (provided it is not in use for a class) during the course of another sibling’s class. There are magazines and a box of toys for younger siblings to play with. Unfortunately, we feel the need to remind parents to please pick up the toys your child plays with after you are done and place them back in the toy box. If you are picking up your student after a class and they have been playing with the toys or books, please remember to leave enough time so they can put away the toys they took out before you depart. Younger siblings must be supervised so classes are not interrupted by noise or distractions. Excessive screaming and loud
noises do carry into the upstairs studio. Children/siblings should also not be left unattended in the waiting room or allowed to distract in the upstairs lobby by banging on the glass, etc. Thank you for your understanding on this.
8. INCLEMENT WEATHER: In case of bad weather during the school year, we follow the East Lansing Public Schools policies for closing. Please check the East Lansing Public Schools website (http://elps.k12.mi.us) to find out if the schools are closed. Classes cancelled due to bad weather will not be refunded, as those cancellations are beyond our control, but they may be made up provided there is another class available at the same level. If we should cancel a class due to any reason other than weather, we will schedule a makeup class or credit your account accordingly.
