The Company performs several times a year with an original storybook ballet/dance production (a full theatrical production), as well as performances for charities such as the Make A Wish Foundation, Junior Achievement, Festival of Tress and Senior Assisted Living Centers and Nursing Homes. The time commitment is approximately one extra hour per week for the Children's Company, 1-2 hours a week for the Junior Company and 1-3 hours a week for the Senior Company, with more time added when needed, especially in the last month or so before the production in February, depending upon individual parts and dances they are cast in. If needed, an audition in late August/early September for placement only may be held. The first performance is a short holiday show scheduled in mid-December.
The technical and personal growth the dancers experience during their time in the company is a key component of their success in dancing, and the friendship and support gained from each other across all ages and levels is unique. Solos and roles are at the discretion of the Director as it relates to the needs of the show being created. Each show is unique and original, and centered around the talent that is there. The cost to participate in the company is $600 per year, which can be paid in scheduled payments.
Parents are an important part of the company's success: the assist in putting together their student's costumes under guidance from a costumer (either physically by sewing it, or monetarily by buying it), help with any props needed or set pieces to be made, supply and run the snack table fundraiser before, during and after the shows, sell an ambitious target of 10 tickets per student for the production (which helps pay the cost of renting the theatre), as well as any other company needs.
