GENERAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY & WAIVER - Assumption of Risks and Liability Release: I/we acknowledge that participation in dance activities at Yaquina Barre Dance Studio involves certain risks, including but not limited to sprains, strains, falls, and other physical injuries. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in these activities. I hereby release Yaquina Barre Dance Studio, LLC, its instructors, and all affiliated entities from any and all liability for any injuries or damages I may sustain while participating in dance activities. I am aware that this is a release of liability and an acknowledgment of my voluntary and knowing assumption of the risk of injury.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY - I/we agree to obey the class and facility rules and take full responsibility for my/our behavior in addition to any damage I/we may cause to the facilities utilized by Yaquina Barre Dance Studio, LLC.
REPORTING UNSAFE CONDITIONS/CONDUCT - In the event that I/we should observe any unsafe conduct or conditions before, during or after my/our classes, I/we agree to report the unsafe conduct or conditions to the YBD staff as soon as possible.
ATTENDANCE - Dance is a discipline learned through consistent training, practice and application of feedback. A dancer’s presence in class is crucial for the instructor’s choreography and stage placement. Regular attendance builds better technical execution, stage performance qualities and overall confidence. We want to be accommodating when it comes to school and family activities, as we want well rounded individuals. Dancers are allowed 1 excused absence per month for all classes. Excused absences include grade required school functions, religious holidays, family emergencies and illness, and pre-planned family vacations. Dancers are able to make up any missed classes in any appropriate class of their choice, at any time prior to March 31st of the current season. Dancers with excessive absences may be, at YBD’s discretion, moved to a lower-level class. If a dancer has missed more than the allotted excused absences without making it up prior to the performance, YBD reserves the right to remove the dancer from the show. Parents or dancers may send absence notifications to YBDanceLLC@gmail.com. Late arrivals cause dancers to miss warm-ups and put dancers at an additional risk of injury. Any student more than 10 minutes late will be required to observe class instead. Dancers may only perform in classes they are officially enrolled in. We strongly encourage families to not schedule vacations the month of, or prior to, the performance.
ATTIRE - All classes: hair should be pulled away from the face and off the neck for all dance classes. Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the studio space.
BALLET - Leotard, tights and ballet slippers. Additionally, fitted black shorts may be worn over the leotard and tights.
JAZZ/CONTEMPORARY - Any style of leotard or dance attire. No clothing may be worn that obstruct the view of the body (i.e. baggy shirts/pants). Jazz shoes are required for jazz class.
TAP - A suggested tap shoe style is So Danca's TATE-TA28 or other similar shoe from Capezio or Bloch. Shoes should have: (1) a single supportive sole; NOT split sole, (2) a hard toe box (3) screw on taps; no nails. It is extremely important to only wear tap shoes on the dance floor. Concrete or other hard surfaces will scratch the metal tap, which in turn will scratch the studio dance floors. Students should wear comfortable clothing. No pants that drag on the floor or jeans.
HIP HOP - Comfortable clothing, no tight jeans, skirts, boots, flip flops, or elevated shoes. Baggy clothing is acceptable.
BALLROOM - No jeans or overly baggy clothing. Comfortable clothing appropriate for partner work that allow ease of movement. Ballroom dance shoes with suede soles or dress shoes with smooth soles. Avoid sneakers, rubber/grippy soles. No sandals or socks (alone).
PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON ALL WATER BOTTLES/ SHOES/CLOTHING/BAGS/TECHNIQUE-CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT. CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND PROMPTLY. ANY ITEMS IN LOST AND FOUND WILL BE DONATED TO CHARITY ON DECEMBER 31ST AND MAY 31ST OF EACH YEAR.
CLASS ETIQUETTE - Dance class etiquette involves being punctual, respecting your instructor, classmates, maintaining good hygiene and following instructions. It is important to be aware of your space, listen attentively and avoid distractions.
Secure all valuables, as YBD is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Cellphones are to be silenced before entering class.
BEFORE CLASS - Arrive on time. Being on time allows you to settle in before class begins, avoids class disruptions and ensures you are fully warmed up to avoid injuries. Have your dance shoes ready, hair secured, and any necessary water readily available. Inform the instructor if you need to leave early.
DURING CLASS - Respect your instructor. No talking while the instructor is speaking or music is playing. Listen attentively and respond to corrections. One question at a time, please; wait for the instructor to finish the answer before asking another question. Respect your classmates. No side conversations when others are dancing, it is distracting and can be uncomfortable to fellow dancers. Ask questions when needed. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification if you’re unsure about something, but ensure you’ve first listened and observed before asking. Apply corrections. It is through correction that we become great dancers. If an instructor gives a correction to the class or an individual, all students should take the time to check their technique and use the opportunity to further develop their skills.
ENROLLMENT - A credit card on file is required for enrollment. Tuition will automatically run on the 1st of each month unless other payment arrangements have been made with the front desk manager. When enrolled, each student is enrolled in a class until officially withdrawn. Upon withdrawal, all account balances must be paid within 30 days. Withdrawal from any class requires written notice before the 25th of the month to avoid the next month’s tuition being posted to the dancer’s account. Written notice may be sent via email to YBDanceLLC@gmail.com.
YBD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO THE FOLLOWING - Cancel any class with insufficient registration. All faculty members are subject to change. Determine class placement. We reserve the right to place students according to their age, ability and dance experience. Some classes require prerequisites or permission of instructor. Classes have been consolidated & renamed. Email us if you are not sure of your class level when you are registering.
TUITION & FEE GENERAL INFORMATION - Tuition is paid on a monthly basis. All tuition is the same regardless of whether there are 3, 4, or 5 weeks in a month. Tuition is due the 1st of each month. Late Fee: a $15 late fee will be added to tuition if not paid by the 7th. Returned check fee is $35, plus the late fee. Payments are applied to the oldest balance. Student and family members may not re-enroll until all balances are paid current. Payment methods accepted are cash, check, debit card, ACH, and credit card. We strongly encourage payments be made online through the YBD parent portal.
NON-REFUNDABLE ITEMS - Credit will not be given for missed classes due to illness, inclement weather days or personal commitments. Dancers are able to make up any missed classes in any appropriate class of their choice, at any time prior to March 31st of the current dance season. Dance shoes, tights, unused costumes, and merchandise will not be refunded.
REFUNDABLE ITEMS - If a student sustains an injury that does not allow them to participate over an extended period of time, a credit or refund will be issued. In some cases, a doctors note may be required. If a student is very young and is not ready to participate in a class after a few visits, a refund of tuition will be given. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient registration, a full refund will be given.
PHOTOS - I hereby grant permission for YBD to take photos of me and/or my child while participating in activities for promotional purposes. Names of dancers will not be used or disclosed by YBD without parental permission.
***If, you DO NOT grant permission for YBD to take photos of you and/or your child while participating in activities for promotional purposes, please be sure to mark that option during registration.***

For various reasons, some parents/guardians may not be comfortable with this, and may withhold permission for their child to be photographed. Therefore, the following applies to all still photos and video taken at YBD:

Under no circumstances is any video to be distributed via any means, this includes all forms of social media without permission from the parent/guardian of every child in the images/videos. Bullying/harassment of any kind will not be tolerated in the studio or over social media, and may result in termination of student’s enrollment. Students, parents/guardians and teachers are not to post any content that may bring YBD into disrepute. All posts on social media that are YBD or dance related must be appropriate and tasteful.
STUDENT & PARENT CONDUCT - Addressing Issues: We welcome you as parents to bring concerns/issues to our attention. We do ask that you use discretion as you address them with us. We ask that any conversations that are sensitive and private in matter be held while classes are not in session and are addressed to the management team only. If issues concern other parents or children, please do not address this issue at Yaquina Barre Dance Studio.
