ACADEMY’S PROGRAMS
Teachers for each group are appointed by the administration and students are placed in groups according to their age and/or level; in the event that a teacher needs to be replaced, at the sole discretion of the Academy, this will not constitute grounds for cancellation of the contract.
SCHOOL CALENDAR
Instructional days and holidays are indicated in the School Calendar, which will be emailed and posted on the school’s information board. The School may update its calendar from time to time. It is the student’s/parents’ responsibility to stay informed about the school’s schedule, breaks, official holidays, and other events. All choreography classes, group rehearsals, theatre performances, and exams are included in the cost of the program and are a compulsory part of the chosen program. Private classes and private rehearsals are not included in the tuition fee.
RULES OF CONDUCT AND ATTENDANCE
1. In case of missed classes, the school must be notified in advance or on the day of the absence by email. Students are eligible for make-up classes under the following conditions:
- If a student misses classes between September to December, they may have up to 2 make-up classes within that same period.
- If a student misses classes between January to April, they may have up to 2 make-up classes within that same period.
- Make-up classes are offered as a courtesy, subject to availability, and must be scheduled within the same term. Unused make-up classes cannot be carried over to a new term or refunded.
2. Students and parents must show respect to the teachers, other students, and parents, and must keep the school property clean and in order. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed in the studio. No refunds or make-up classes will be offered due to late arrivals. Unscheduled absences, late arrivals, and early departures may be grounds for disciplinary action, such as dismissal from exams and performances.
3. Students must wear the new uniform assigned to their class for 2025-2026. Hair must be worn in a tight ballet bun with hair off the face.
4. The school may take pictures and videos of students for its statutory purposes. Parents or students may object in writing or by email. In this case, the student will be deemed to have refused participation in public rehearsals, presentations, or other school activities where media will be present.
5. Rehearsals will take place on regular class days and/or on Saturdays. All students participating in ballet performances must attend the mandatory general and stage rehearsals. If a student misses more than 2 consecutive classes during the rehearsal period, the student may be dismissed from the dance or exam at the teacher’s discretion. If more than 3 rehearsals are missed, the teacher may decide that the student is not fit to participate in the Gala Concert. This decision will be final and non-appealable. Refusal to participate in rehearsals, presentations, or other activities included in the program does not entitle the student to a refund.
6. The nature of dance instruction requires physical contact between teachers and students, and students/parents agree to this.
7. The school has the right to terminate this contract in case of repeated violations of the rules of conduct. Several notices will be given before proceeding with the expulsion of a student.
PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY
Parents are responsible for their child’s safety and well-being at all times when they are not in class under the supervision of their teacher. Parents acknowledge that the school does not provide assigned caregivers for children before and after their classes (or during breaks) and agree to waive and release Victoria International Ballet Academy and its employees from any and all claims arising from their failure to care for their children while not in class.
STUDENTS’ ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Parents are welcome to approach the school office to set up an appointment with teachers or to obtain information from the administration regarding their child’s progress.
