Physical Touch

- In order to maintain a high level of care and ensure safe dance practices, it may be necessary for a teacher to use physical contact to correct a student’s alignment. This helps the student to work safely and effectively within the techniques they are learning.
- Teachers may touch areas such as the shoulders, ankles, feet, or knees to guide correct placement.
- Teachers will always ask for the student’s permission before making physical contact in class.
- Teachers will respect the preferences of the student and/or parent/guardian if they choose not to permit physical touch.
- Where possible, teachers will use alternative teaching methods to encourage correct alignment and technique, such as the use of Thera-bands, yoga balls, or stickers on shoes and knees to promote self-correction.

Open Classroom and Waiting Areas

- Our studio doors are open for parents to view classes at any time.
- The waiting areas are open for parents to observe, while a divider encourages independent learning for the students.
- We host Open Weeks where families are invited to view classes, meet their child’s teachers, and foster positive communication between parents, students, and teachers.
- Assistant teachers are assigned to larger classes to ensure adequate supervision and support for all students at all times.

Physical Environment

- The safety and well-being of our students are prioritized by ensuring that the dance space is equipped with sprung flooring, ample lighting, and professionally installed and secure fixtures, such as barres and mirrors.
- To minimize the risk of slip hazards, food and drink are restricted to the designated foyer area.
- All electrical equipment is regularly checked for safety and replaced as necessary.
- The building conducts regular fire drills and safety inspections to meet all required fire safety standards, with an evacuation policy displayed throughout the premises.
- Students are always properly warmed up before class to reduce the risk of injury.

Psychological Safety

- A nurturing and supportive environment is essential for the psychological well-being of our students and their families.
- Clear and open communication between teachers, students, and parents is vital to resolve any conflicts amicably and with mutual respect.
- The studio director has completed a Mental Health First Aid course to better identify warning signs in young people at risk.
- If a student is exhibiting concerning behaviors, the parents will be informed, and appropriate action will be taken to address the issue.
- In cases of suspected abuse or neglect, the appropriate steps outlined under our "Reporting" procedures will be followed.

First Aid

- Fully stocked First Aid kits are available in each dance studio.
- All teaching staff hold current First Aid certifications, including CPR and EpiPen training.
- In the event that First Aid is required, the teacher may need to administer physical touch according to DRSABCD guidelines.
- Parents or guardians will be contacted and informed of any injuries or First Aid treatment administered during class (e.g., ice for a sprained ankle).

- We have a strict sign-in and sign-out policy for students.

- If a student will be traveling to or from the studio on their own (e.g., by bus or walking), parents must notify the studio in advance.
- If a student is absent, a courtesy SMS will be sent to confirm their location and ensure their safety.

Photography and Video

- Parents/guardians must indicate on the enrolment form whether they consent to their child’s image being used for studio-related purposes, including social media, advertising, or rehearsal videos.
- Staff and hired professionals (photographers/videographers) are notified of any students who are not permitted to be photographed or filmed. All images are approved by the studio director before publication.
- Photography and video are only permitted using the studio’s designated tablet or by a professional photographer or videographer. Personal devices are strictly prohibited for capturing images.
- Rehearsal videos, used as a learning tool, may be filmed using the studio tablet and will be shared with students and parents once approved by the studio director.

Working With Children’s Checks

- All teachers, staff, and volunteers at Pointe Dynamic Arts hold current Working With Children Checks (WWCC) and are required to follow the guidelines set out by the NSW Children’s Guardian and adhere to this Child Protection Policy.

Reporting

- Teachers, staff, and volunteers are trained to recognize the signs of abuse or neglect and are aware of their obligations to report suspected risk of harm.
- All staff members receive this information during induction and are provided with ongoing training.
- Any incidents or concerns must be reported immediately to the studio director.
- All incidents are documented in the studio log, and where necessary, reports are made to the NSW Protection Agency as per legal requirements.

Payment Policies 2025

1. Payment Options*
Payment for classes at Pointe Dynamic Arts can be made in the following ways:
- Fortnightly Direct Debit
- Monthly Direct Debit
- Per Term
- Year Upfront

2. Payment Terms
Fees are due in advance for each selected payment option. Payments for fortnightly or monthly direct debit will be automatically deducted on the specified dates. For term or yearly upfront payments, the full fee must be paid by the first class of each term or year.

3. Late Fees
Late payment fees will apply to any outstanding fees that are more than one week overdue. The late fee will be calculated as 10% of the total overdue amount for each week the payment remains outstanding.

4. Non-Payment
If fees remain unpaid for an extended period, Pointe Dynamic Arts reserves the right to suspend the student's participation in classes until the outstanding balance is cleared.

5. Payment Methods
Payments can be made via direct debit, bank transfer, or other payment methods as specified by Pointe Dynamic Arts. Details of payment options will be provided at the time of enrolment.

**Pointe Dynamic Arts Terms and Conditions**

1. Enrolment & Commitment
Enrolment at Pointe Dynamic Arts is a commitment for the full year, running from 13th Jan 2025 to 20th Dec 2025. Enrolments will automatically roll over to the next term unless otherwise advised.

2. Attendance
Students are expected to attend class each week, except in cases of illness or serious personal matters. If a student will be absent, please inform us by phone or email.
Students are required to be punctual. Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled class. Lateness disrupts the class and affects the student's ability to warm up and participate safely.
In the event of an un-notified absence, a courtesy SMS will be sent to ensure all students are accounted for.

3. End of Year Showcase
Participation in the End of Year Showcase is expected of all students. Please advise us in writing by the commencement of Term 2 if you will not be attending the showcase.
Students not participating in the showcase may still attend classes, but we ask for prior notice so that absences can be accounted for in choreography and costume purchasing.

4. Rehearsals, Events & Performances
Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals, events, and performances is required. Any enquiries, concerns, or questions should be directed to the director or reception.

5. Communication
Effective in 2025, all communication with Pointe Dynamic Arts will be conducted via email or phone. We will be transitioning from our studio mobile phone to a landline for all inquiries and correspondence.

For non-class-related matters such as feedback on student progress or general questions, please contact the director or reception via email or phone to arrange a meeting time outside of class hours. We ask that all communication be made through these channels to ensure prompt and efficient responses.

6. Studio Access & Conduct
Only staff and students are permitted to enter the teaching space during class times unless invited (e.g., during Open Week, costume assistance). Drop-off and pick-up should occur at designated zones outside the studio. Details will be provided in an email before classes commence.
Please keep noise levels in the reception/waiting area to a minimum to avoid disruption to ongoing classes and other businesses in the building.

7. Food, Drink, & Allergies
No food or drink, other than water, is allowed during class time. Students with 3 or more classes on the same day may bring a healthy, nut-free snack between classes. Please be mindful of serious allergies when packing snacks.

8. Email & SMS Updates
Pointe Dynamic Arts will send email updates and SMS reminders for important events and dates. Please ensure you regularly check your email and the Parent Portal for the latest information.

9. Behavioural Expectations
Pointe Dynamic Arts is committed to creating a safe, fun, and friendly environment. Bullying or any form of disrespectful behaviour from students or families will not be tolerated and may result in suspension or expulsion.

10. Studio Uniform & Presentation
Students must adhere to the studio uniform and presentation requirements for all classes. Hair must be neatly styled and off the face, with long hair in a ballet bun for classical ballet classes.
For safety, all jewelry and watches must be removed before class. If a student does not have the correct uniform, shoes, or hairstyle, they may be asked to sit out the class or correct their appearance before rejoining.

11. Performance Participation
As part of enrolment at Pointe Dynamic Arts, all students are expected to participate in the End of Year Showcase. Students are also encouraged to perform at any opportunities provided by the studio. However, permission must be requested before performing any choreography learned at Pointe Dynamic Arts outside of the studio.
If a student leaves the studio, they are prohibited from performing any routines learned at Pointe Dynamic Arts in competitions, classes, or other events.

12. Ownership of Choreography
Pointe Dynamic Arts retains ownership of all choreography, including class work, performance routines, and solos/duos/trios.

13. Photography & Media Consent
Pointe Dynamic Arts holds the right to use any photography or videos for promotional purposes. If you do not consent to the use of your child’s image, please ensure you have noted this on your enrolment form.
Photos and videos will be taken during the End of Year Performance as mementos. If you do not consent to your child’s image appearing in these recordings, please notify us so arrangements can be made.

14. Social Media & Privacy
We ask that parents and students refrain from “friend requesting” or “following” staff members on social media. Pointe Dynamic Arts has a public Facebook and Instagram page that all students and families are encouraged to follow for updates and information.

15. Disclaimer
Dance, Tumbling, Cheer and Theatre classes are physical activities with an inherent risk of injury. Pointe Dynamic Arts takes every precaution to ensure student safety during classes, rehearsals, performances, and events. However, the studio accepts no responsibility for injury or loss occurring on or near the premises. It is the responsibility of the student or parent to ensure physical and medical fitness for participation and following all safety procedures when at our around the studio.

16. Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Students under the age of 13 must not leave the studio alone and must be picked up by a parent, guardian, or nominated person. Parents must come inside to collect their child. If your child has permission to walk or ride to/from the studio, or if someone other than the nominated person will be responsible for their transport, please notify us in writing.

17. Senior Students
Senior students may leave the studio during breaks to purchase dinner, provided written parental consent is given. Students are not permitted to leave the studio after 6pm.

18. Working with Children Check
All staff, teachers, and volunteers at Pointe Dynamic Arts have a current Working with Children Check in accordance with NSW regulations (July 2013). For further details, please refer to our Child Protection Policy on the Parent Portal.

19. Calendar & Events
The annual calendar of events will be available after 1st Jan 2025. Please note that changes to the calendar may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be communicated promptly.

20. Going Green Policy
To support our "Going Green" initiative, all newsletters, updates, and reminders will be sent digitally. Please ensure that you regularly check your email and the Parent Portal to stay up-to-date with important information.

21. Safety & Injury Prevention
Dance, Tumbling, Cheer and Theatre classes are physically demanding activities, by enrolling you are accepting that there is risk of injury while participating in classes. Teachers may need to engage physically with students for alignment or first aid purposes. All staff are trained and have up-to-date Working with Children Checks.
