We can't wait to have you join us in studio. Just before you do, please accept that you have read, fully understand, accept and agree to our terms of engagement as set out below.
ENROLMENTS
- Class numbers are capped to ensure appropriate student progression, individual attention, and health and safety.
- Classes commence in the first week of each school term and run for a minimum of 8–10 weeks, depending on the term and studio calendar.
- Students must be enrolled online prior to attending any classes.
- Students are automatically re-enrolled each term. Written notice of withdrawal must be provided by the end of Week 2 of the relevant term if a student wishes to withdraw.
- If written notice of withdrawal is not received by the end of Week 2, full tuition fees for the term will apply.
- Classes that fall on event dates, including show rehearsals, competitions, examinations or other studio commitments, are not eligible for refunds or credits.
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to decline or cancel an enrolment where a class has reached capacity or where the studio considers that a particular class is not suitable for the student’s age, level, ability or safety.
- Enrolment in a class confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions and all applicable Diamond Studios policies.
FEES & PAYMENTS
- Fees are due during the first week of each term unless an alternative payment arrangement has been made directly with administration.
- All fees must be paid by the due date.
- Overdue fees where no payment arrangement is in place may result in the student’s classes being suspended until the account is brought up to date.
- A 5% late fee will be applied weekly to overdue balances until the outstanding amount has been cleared.
- Any overdue or unpaid fees may be referred to a third-party collections agency, with any associated recovery costs potentially payable by the account holder.
- Students who enrol during the term will be charged on a pro-rata basis where applicable.
- Fees are non-refundable where a student changes their mind or voluntarily discontinues classes, subject to any rights provided under applicable New Zealand law.
- Memberships are available for students enrolled in multiple classes. Please refer to the Fees/Memberships tab for details.
- All payments must be made through the Diamond Studios DSP Parent Portal.
- The person responsible for the student’s enrolment is responsible for ensuring all fees are paid by the applicable due dates, regardless of whether invoices or payment reminders have been received.
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to withhold participation in performances, competitions, examinations, events or other studio activities where an account is significantly overdue.
- Any outstanding fees that remain unsettled pass the due date will be automatically processed through autopay Via the payment method on file.
ADDITIONAL FEES
The following costs may be additional to standard tuition fees:
- Examination fees – payable on the Term Two invoice.
- Dance uniform – compulsory. Please refer to the Uniform tab for requirements.
- Troupe costume fees.
- Competition registration fees.
- Soloist-related costs.
- Performance/show-related costs where applicable.
- Registration fee – a one-off $20 registration/administration fee applies to all new families when they join Diamond Studios.
- Additional fees and costs may vary depending on the student’s classes, examination participation, troupe involvement, competitions and other studio activities.
UNIFORMS
- Diamond Studios prides itself on maintaining high standards of presentation across all classes and events.
- Uniforms are compulsory for all students participating in examination classes and competitive events, and may be required for other classes or studio activities.
- Please refer to the Uniform tab for specific uniform requirements.
- All uniforms can be ordered through the dancer’s DSP Parent Portal.
- Students are expected to attend class in the correct uniform, with appropriate footwear and hair secured as required for their class.
- Uniform requirements may differ between recreational, examination, troupe and competition classes.
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS & TERM BREAKS
- All New Zealand public holidays observed by Diamond Studios are accounted for within the fee structure.
- Studio term dates and holiday closures will be communicated to families through the DSP Parent Portal and/or studio communications.
CLASS CANCELLATIONS & STUDIO CLOSURES
- If classes are cancelled due to circumstances such as COVID-19, lessons may be credited to the student’s account where determined appropriate by Diamond Studios.
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, relocate or modify classes due to circumstances beyond its control, including extreme weather, emergencies, venue issues, government requirements, health and safety concerns or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Where a class is cancelled by Diamond Studios, the studio will determine the appropriate remedy, which may include a replacement class, credit, rescheduled class or other reasonable arrangement.
- Any student absences relating to COVID-19 are treated as illness. No refunds or credits apply for absence due to illness, including COVID-19, or where a student is required to isolate.
MEMBERSHIPS
- Our memberships have been carefully designed for multi-class students and align with our aim of providing all Diamond dancers with the opportunity to “Find Their Shine.”
- Memberships may not be shared between dancers. Each student must hold their own membership.
- Private lessons that are missed are not eligible for refunds or credits.
- Troupe classes are available by audition and acceptance only.
- To hold an Emerald or Diamond Membership, a student must be enrolled in and attend a minimum of two classes per week. These two classes do not include troupes, private lessons or Academy training and must be additional to these programmes.
- Limited Diamond Memberships are available.
- Membership inclusions, pricing and conditions are subject to the current Membership/Fees information published by Diamond Studios.
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to review membership eligibility where a student’s attendance or enrolment changes.
COMPETITIVE DANCE & TROUPE
- Students who train at Diamond Studios in competitive dance represent Diamond Studios at competitive events and are expected to uphold the standards and values of the studio.
- All competition work conceptualised and choreographed by a Diamond Studios tutor remains the intellectual property of Diamond Studios NZ, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- All competitive students must complete and sign the applicable Dancer and Parent Contracts in order to be accepted into Troupes.
- Competition and troupe participation involves additional financial, training, rehearsal and attendance commitments. Families are responsible for all applicable competition, costume, choreography, registration and other associated costs.
- Students selected for troupes and competitive teams are expected to attend scheduled rehearsals and training sessions consistently.
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to remove a student from a troupe, competition entry or performance opportunity where attendance, conduct, commitment or other requirements are not being met.
ATTENDANCE & MAKE-UP CLASSES
- Regular attendance is expected, and students should arrive on time and be ready to participate.
- Missed classes due to personal commitments, holidays, appointments or other reasons are not eligible for refunds or credits.
- Make-up classes may be offered at the discretion of Diamond Studios and are subject to availability.
- Consistent attendance is particularly important for examination, troupe and competitive students, where missed training may affect progression, choreography, performance opportunities or team placement.
STUDENT CONDUCT
- At Diamond Studios, we encourage students and families to form close-knit friendships within a nurturing, positive and encouraging environment.
- Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in immediate suspension or dismissal from classes.
- We expect all Diamond families to remain respectful towards staff, tutors, students and other families at all times.
- Offensive, abusive, threatening or intimidating behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in immediate suspension or dismissal from Diamond Studios.
- Students are expected to follow reasonable instructions from tutors and staff and to behave in a manner that supports a safe and positive learning environment.
- Repeated disruptive behaviour may result in a meeting with the student and/or parent/guardian and may lead to suspension or termination of enrolment.
CHILD SAFETY & SUPERVISION
- Parents/guardians are responsible for students before and after their scheduled class time.
- Students should not be left at the studio outside their scheduled class time unless otherwise arranged with Diamond Studios.
- Students must be collected promptly at the conclusion of their class.
- Diamond Studios must be informed of any relevant medical, behavioural, learning or other needs that may affect a student’s participation or safety.
- Emergency contact details must be kept current.
- Parents/guardians must ensure that students are dropped off and collected safely and that younger students are supervised until they enter their scheduled class.
-Diamond Studios is not responsible for supervising students outside their scheduled class, rehearsal or activity time unless otherwise expressly arranged.
INJURIES & MEDICAL CONDITIONS
- Students participate in dance classes at their own risk and parents/guardians must advise Diamond Studios of any injury, medical condition or physical limitation that may affect participation.
- Students who are injured during class will be assessed and appropriate first aid and/or emergency procedures will be followed.
- Parents/guardians authorise Diamond Studios staff to seek appropriate medical assistance in an emergency where a parent/guardian cannot be contacted.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for updating Diamond Studios if a student’s medical circumstances, injuries, medication requirements or physical limitations change.
- Where a student is unable to safely participate in a class, Diamond Studios may modify or restrict participation as appropriate.
PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO & SOCIAL MEDIA
- Diamond Studios may photograph or video students during classes, rehearsals, performances, competitions and studio events for promotional, educational or archival purposes.
- Parent/guardian consent will be obtained where required.
- Parents/guardians must not photograph or record other students without permission.
- Families should respect the privacy of other students and must not publish or distribute images or videos of other students without appropriate permission.
- Diamond Studios will take reasonable steps to respect photography and media preferences communicated through the enrolment process.
PARENT & SPECTATOR CONDUCT
- Parents and guardians are expected to communicate respectfully with tutors, staff, students and other families.
- Parents/guardians must not interrupt classes, rehearsals or coaching sessions.
- Concerns should be raised privately with administration rather than with tutors, students or other families during class.
- Aggressive, threatening, abusive or intimidating behaviour may result in suspension or termination of enrolment.
- Parents and spectators must follow studio, venue and event rules at all times.
- Parents/guardians are not permitted to enter teaching spaces during classes unless invited or authorised by a Diamond Studios staff member.
WITHDRAWAL & TERMINATION
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to suspend or terminate a student’s enrolment where:
Fees remain unpaid.
- Conduct requirements are breached.
- A student’s behaviour presents a safety concern.
- Studio policies or contractual requirements are repeatedly not followed.
- In serious circumstances, termination may occur without notice.
- Termination by Diamond Studios does not waive outstanding tuition or other fees already incurred.
- Where appropriate, Diamond Studios may provide families with an opportunity to address concerns before termination. However, this is at the discretion of Diamond Studios and may not apply in serious or urgent circumstances.
PRIVACY & PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Diamond Studios collects and stores personal information for the purposes of enrolment, administration, communication, payments, classes, competitions and student safety.
- Families are responsible for ensuring their contact and emergency information remains accurate and up to date.
- Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy requirements.
LOST PROPERTY & PERSONAL BELONGINGS
- Students are responsible for their own belongings.
- Diamond Studios does not accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal property.
- All personal items should be clearly labelled.
- Students are encouraged to leave valuables and unnecessary personal items at home.
PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION
- It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to read and remain familiar with Diamond Studios policies, term dates, invoices, emails and other studio communications.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that they have access to and regularly check the DSP Parent Portal and the contact details associated with their enrolment.
- By enrolling a student, parents/guardians acknowledge and agree to abide by Diamond Studios’ Terms & Conditions, policies and procedures.
- Failure to read or receive a studio communication does not remove the parent/guardian’s responsibility to comply with applicable policies, payment obligations or enrolment requirements.
CHANGES TO POLICIES
- Diamond Studios reserves the right to amend, update or introduce studio policies, procedures, fees and terms where reasonably required for the effective operation of the studio, health and safety, legal compliance or student experience.
- Where material changes affect families, Diamond Studios will provide reasonable notice through its usual communication channels.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
- By completing an enrolment with Diamond Studios, the parent/guardian confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and any applicable studio policies, contracts and procedures.
- These Terms & Conditions should be read together with any applicable Dancer/Parent Contracts, Membership Terms, Competition/Troupe requirements, Uniform requirements and other policies issued by Diamond Studios.
- Where there is a conflict between these Terms & Conditions and a specific signed contract or agreement, the terms of the specific agreement will apply to the extent of that conflict.
