2026-2027 Policies
Dance is a performing art, and dance performances give dancers the excitement of performing while building confidence and providing an opportunity to showcase their hard work and talent.
REGISTRATION/SCHEDULE: All class space is available on a first come, first serve basis. The schedule is subject to change based upon a minimum number per class. Classes are held September thru April. Children are grouped by age and ability level. Classes are offered after school; in the evenings to accommodate working parents. Online registration must be complete, and first month tuition paid to hold a spot for your dancer in a particular class. If not, your child will not be added to the class list. Classes will be cancelled or consolidated if minimum number is not met. A minimum of 6 per class is required.
TUITION PAYMENTS: Payments can be done online (https://app.gostudiopro.com/online/asod), through Venmo (@asod5678) or by giving cash/check to your dance instructor. Tuition is paid monthly and always due on the first of each month and becomes due on the 5th and are subject to a late fee of $10.00. If fees become 30 days delinquent your child will not be able to continue class until full payment is made.
COMMUNICATION: ASOD shares important updates through monthly newsletters, weekly email updates, and our website (site.ashlandschoolofdance.info), with extra copies of the newsletter available at the studio. Email is our main form of communication, so please check it regularly. If you do not use email, be sure to take home a printed newsletter. For questions or concerns, you may call or text 715-413-1074 or email asod@centurytel.net.
CLASS ATTIRE: Dancers can wear any type of comfortable clothing (leotard, leggings, shorts, tshirt, etc). No jeans, please. Dancers MUST have their hair tied back out of their face during class.
DANCEWEAR/SHOES: ASOD sells dance shoes, leotards and tights for your dance needs. Orders can be taken only before or after class.
ATTENDANCE: Students must attend classes on a regular basis to progress! Students arriving late for class will not make good progress and are disruptive to the rest of the class. Any student who MISSES OR is LATE to 8 or more classes during the season will not be allowed to participate in the spring dance recital performance. If missing a class is necessary, please notify ASOD by email before class time that your child will be absent. If a student is unable to dance, we recommend that the student attend class to observe what is being taught. Attendance the 2 weeks prior to all performances and competitions is mandatory (No exceptions)! Please stress the importance of class attendance to your dancer and make it a priority.
CELL PHONES: Dancers are NOT allowed to use their cell phones during class. If there's an emergency, I ask that parents contact ASOD directly. Otherwise all calls, texts, snaps, etc can wait until class is over. . . . and NO not on their water break! Water breaks are just that, get a quick drink of water and go back to class. Parent aren't paying for kids to be on their phones at the studio. Cell phones should remain in their bag/purse once classes begin.
VIDEOTAPING: We do not allow videotaping of dancers during class time. The only time videotaping that is allowed is when a recital dance is recorded so dancers can practice at home. And at that time there is absolutely NO postings of the recital dance allowed on ANY social media.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS: Class time is limited, so students are expected to focus and avoid unnecessary talking or distractions. Instructors need the full attention of all dancers, and students are encouraged to ask dance-related questions during class. General conversation should take place before or after class. ASOD reserves the right to remove anyone who is disruptive in the dance studio. To help minimize distractions, parents and siblings should remain in the waiting room unless invited into class by the instructor.
REFUNDS: Ashland School of Dance does not provide refunds or tuition credits for absences or withdrawals without proper notice. Parents must notify ASOD of their intent to discontinue a class by emailing asod@centurytel.net. Once notice is received, accounts will be reviewed and refunds may be considered for any unused, prepaid classes.
LOST & FOUND Ashland School of Dance is not responsible for lost items. If you are missing something, please check the lost & found box. Please put your child’s name on all their dance items (in both shoes).
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: For the safety of our dancers, ASOD requires that everyone arrive and depart as close to the scheduled class times as possible. Parents are responsible for their children until class begins so please don’t leave your child at the studio unattended. We are not set up to provide childcare!
CODE OF CONDUCT: DANCERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT CLASS PREPARED AND ON TIME. INSTRUCTORS HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISMISS ANY DANCER FROM CLASS WITH A DISPRESPECTFULL OR NEGATIVE ATTITUDE. WE ASK ALL DANCERS TO TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT, SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS: ASOD only cancels classes when the instructor is unable to attend class. We DO NOT ALWAYS cancel dance classes if the SCHOOLS cancel classes or dismiss school early because of inclement weather! Please check your email, text messages and our Facebook page for all schedule changes!! In the event that we need to cancel classes due to inclement weather, we will inform families via text or email. One class cancellation is allowed per class per year at the discretion of the instructor without rescheduling. All other cancelled classes will be made up with a rescheduled class day.
RECITAL COSTUMES: We try our best to determine the best costumes for each class. Dancers through Level IV need one costume per class, and students in multiple classes need a costume for each class. Costumes are chosen in September and must be paid in full by Friday, October 9. Orders will not be placed until payment is received. Parents are responsible for all costume costs, including late fees, surcharges, and shipping for late orders. ASOD is not responsible for delays due to late payment. Most costumes range from $70–$90 and accounts must be current before costumes are taken home by dancers.
COSTUME DEPOSITS: In an effort to make sure costumes are delivered in time to be steamed and sent home before Picture Days and the performance, costume orders are placed mid-October. Costume manufacturers do not accept cancellations or offer refunds after they are ordered; therefore ASOD does not refund costume payments after the original order has been placed. If you don’t participate in a fundraiser, a $35.00 deposit per costume is due no later than Friday, Sept 25. The balance of all costumes must be paid for in full no later than Friday, Oct 9.
WINTER SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE: Dancers in Level II thru IV classes, Acro (Ages 10 & up), Competition Teams, Int Tap, and Company Classes will perform in the Winter Showcase in January at Northwestern High School. Performance times will be announced at a later date. Solo, duet, and trio dancers may also participate in the Showcase. More details on the Winter Showcase will follow.
SPRING RECITAL PERFORMANCE: Our 2027 Spring Dance Recital will be held at the Northwestern High School Auditorium in Maple mid-April. Dancers in Level II thru IV classes, Acro (Ages 10 & up), Competition Teams, Int Tap, and Company Classes perform at both performances. Dancers in Creative Movement, Ballet/Tap, Hip Hop thru Level I, Beg Tap, Poms & Acro (Ages 7-9) will each perform at 1 of the 2 performances. Rehearsal will be held the week of the recital performances at Northwestern High School (Dancers must attend their rehearsal(s) in order to perform in the recital.) Further details on the rehearsal & performances will follow.
STUDIO EXPECTATIONS: Everyone - dancers, instructors, and adults are expected to treat others with kindness and respect at all times. Disrespectful behavior or negative attitudes will not be tolerated. We want everyone to have a great year! If any issues arise, please contact Stacey right away.
