TUITION AND FEES POLICIES

REGISTRATION FEE: A non-refundable registration fee of $40.00 for the first dancer and $20.00 for each additional dancer in the same family is due upon registration. Registration for the Fall/Spring season is valid mid-August to mid-May.

TUITION: Upon enrollment, you are registering for our whole season which ends mid-May. If you need to drop a class prior to that, please see below: DROP A CLASS. The full season tuition is based upon 36 weeks of classes and may be broken into 10 equal monthly installments. Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable. Tuition is not prorated for partial attendance or missed classes. Full tuition is due regardless of attendance and/or holidays. Tuition for the year is divided into equal installments. Payments do not vary due to holidays or the number of weeks in a month. Tuition will NOT be prorated. Returned checks for insufficient funds will incur a $35.00 fee.

MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS: If paying by installment, tuition is due on or before the first lesson of each month. Tuition may be paid by cash, check, ACH, credit or debit card. Auto pay may also be set up through the Parent Portal on Dance Studio Pro. Some classes require more than one class per week and student placement in those classes may be only with teacher approval. Returned checks for insufficient funds will incur a $35.00 fee.

FULL SEASON PAYMENT: If full season is paid on or before the first lesson of the season, a 10% discount will be applied. If a 2 installment payment plan is chosen, 1st payment in September and 2nd payment in February, there will be a 5% discount. The paid in full and two installment payment options must be paid with cash or check ONLY! Returned checks for insufficient funds will incur a $35.00 fee.

REFERRAL CREDIT: For each student who registers for classes, current active students will receive a $20 account credit!

DISCOUNTS: A family tuition discount of 10% is applied for families with more than one dancer.

RECITAL PACKAGE: Our annual dance recital is TENTATIVELY set for May 18th, with a dress rehearsal on a day prior (MAY 17TH) with both being held at La Vernia High School Auditorium. The recital package is $265 and includes 1 costume, recital fee, recital t-shirt, pictures and a recital video. Recital package may be paid in full in November or paid in 3 installments, $89.00 in November, $89.00 in February and $87.00 in April. Additional costumes will be billed at $90/costume. Costumes will only be distributed to those dancers whose account is current and the recital package is paid in full. We do not sell tickets to our recitals so as many family and friends that wish to attend may do so.

LATE FEES: A $35.00 late fee will automatically be added to the tuition amount of those accounts where tuition is received after the 10th of the month.

REFUND POLICY: All registration fees and tuition are non-refundable and non-transferable once they have been paid to MK Dance Academy. We do not offer credit for missed classes. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. MK Dance Academy does offer make ups for missed days, but only until such time that recital routines are being learned, which is around March 1.

DROP A CLASS: Written notice of intent to drop a class must be provided by the 5th day of the month preceding the month you wish to stop taking a class. Any classes dropped after the 5th of the preceding month will be charged tuition for the next month.

WITHDRAWAL: If a student chooses to discontinue dance classes during the Fall/Spring term, a parent or guardian must visit the dance studio to complete and sign a withdrawal form. Withdrawals may not be given verbally. There are no refunds given for students that discontinue taking lessons at any time during the term. Recital costumes are NOT returnable and therefore not refundable. If you order and pay for a costume but do not continue in dance, you are entitled to your costume.

MAKEUP A CLASS: Makeup classes are available to students who miss class due to injury/illness. Missed classes will not result in prorated tuition or refund. Make up classes must occur within 30 days. Let us know if you need help finding a makeup class.

STUDIO POLICIES

BUIDLING ENTRANCE/EXIT: Dancers will be using a BACK DOOR DROP OFF & BACK DOOR PICK-UP process. The lobby waiting area is for students and parents of our younger dancers since we have limited space in the lobby.
Parents should drop off their child at the BACK of the studio no more than 5 MINUTES BEFORE the start of their class. Parents of young children should walk their children to the back door. Parents of older children can drop off, but please pull up as close to the door as possible. PARENTS with children 6 AND UNDER should walk with their child up to the back door. It is also suggested that these parents consider waiting in their cars in our parking lot during class (especially during the first couple of weeks) to ensure their child is comfortable in their new surroundings. Parents should park their cars in the back of the building making sure to leave enough space at the end of the aisle for other drivers to pass. DO NOT park all the way to the fence and impede the flow of traffic. You will be asked to move if you are blocking cars from being able to get around. We are also allowed to park in the area next to the ice machine off of US 87. If the gate is closed, please let a staff member know and we can open it. Dancers will take their dance bag, shoes, and water bottles into class. No additional items, please. Upon entering each class, there will be hand sanitizer if your dancer chooses to use some. After class, dancers will line up single file and our instructors walk them to the lobby where they will be dismissed. All Parents will be able to view classes in person during our Parent Observation days during the regular season. The schedule will be posted in our lobby, posted in your parent portal, and emailed out.

CLASSROOM AND BUILDING POLICIES: Bring only the items needed for class. No extra toys/food/items from home. MKDA dress code must be followed as well as hair secured and proper footwear. Dancers out of dress code will be sent an email. In the event of habitual dress code issues, dancers may be asked to sit out. Bring your own water bottle. When students arrive they will sit in the student waiting lobby until their classroom is open. At that time they will enter their classroom. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your class. No gum or food is allowed in the classrooms. Cell phones are not allowed to be used in the classrooms. Instructors must be present in order for a dancer to be in a classroom. Do not let unsupervised children run and play in an empty studio. Students must respect teachers, staff, and classmates or will be asked to observe class, instead of participating. In the rare case of a parent or student showing disrespect or defamation to any parent, staff member, or student, a meeting will be called immediately, and dismissal may be considered at the discretion of the studio director. Physical, mental, emotional or cyberbullying by parents, staff, or students will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the studio. MK Dance Academy takes no responsibility for any stolen or misplaced property. MK Dance Academy management reserves the right to change teachers or timetables, when necessary, at any time throughout the year.

CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE: Do not enter class until the teacher calls you in. Students will enter quietly, without running. Arriving late and leaving early to class is not acceptable. If a student is late they may enter the class without talking and sit by the door until the teacher invites them to join the class. If a student is more than 15 minutes late they will not be permitted to take the class. No walking in tap shoes in the hallway. Bring your shoes into the dance studio with you. No street shoes in dance studios! Follow class attire guidelines and dress code. No jewelry besides small stud earrings. Hair must be in a neat bun or ponytail. Take a class with a positive attitude. Listen to every correction and apply it. Project positive body language. Students should take a class with their arms by their side, not crossed or on hips, and maintain eye contact with the Instructor. Show appreciation to fellow dancers by clapping after every class (except ballet), and by thanking your instructor (all classes). Keep eyes on the instructor and take class quietly. Bring in water to class only. Sorry is not necessary when a mistake is made in class. Leaning on barres or walls is disrespectful. Parents are not allowed in the classroom. Respect all instructors and classmates. If a behavior problem occurs, the Instructor will give one verbal warning to the dancer. The second time there is a behavior problem, the dancer will be asked to sit out of class for 5 minutes. If the behavior problem still persists, the dancer will be asked to go to the front desk and call a parent to pick them up, and will not be allowed to finish the class or classes for the day. Pick up your belongings and maintain an orderly studio. We recommend initiating your items. Lost and Found items will be kept for a week and then donated to Goodwill.

WATCH DAYS & HOLIDAYS

WATCH DAYS will be the first lesson of the months of October, February, and April and the last lesson in December. This is the lesson parents and visitors are invited to observe class. Remember, this is your day to see your childâ€™s progress. Please do not disturb the class by visiting amongst yourselves. Silence your phone. Please keep siblings seated and quiet. During regular class times, Parents are asked to walk their child inside the building and then wait in the waiting room or run a quick errand. During regular lessons, we will need one parent volunteer to stay in the Studio and act as a monitor. Duties may include; escorting younger children to the restroom, helping with the changing of shoes, etc. Look for a sign-up sheet if you would like to help. When class is dismissed, please come inside to retrieve your child. Try to make eye contact with an instructor, monitor, or studio staff so we know who actually picked up your child. Please remind your child to always wait until you have come inside to get him or her.
