Spring 2026
TREO - Developmental Training Team
TREO is our brand new developmental training team for dancers ages 8-13. "Treo" (pronounced 'trow') is the Irish word meaning direction or guidance. It stands for "Training for Regional and Ensemble Opportunities."
Invited dancers identified as high performers in their class with great potential. Selection criteria includes:
- Dancers become eligible for TREO selection in the year they turn 8. Dancers can be selected for TREO at any time between the ages of 8 and 13.
- Dancers are recommended by their instructor(s) and invited by the director based on the following attributes:
--- Attends regular leveled classes with excellent attendance
--- Comes prepared to class with new steps practiced, questions, and with their necessary materials for class
--- Demonstrates a strong understanding of technique for their age and level
--- Demonstrates agility in learning by applying corrections quickly and/or with noticeable effort
--- Exhibits enthusiasm for Irish dancing and motivation to improve
--- Shows respect for their instructors and peers
Invited dancers may choose to accept or decline their invitation to TREO. If you’re not ready to accept at this time, your dancer’s selection will be re-evaluated during the next round of invitations. The program will be opened to dancers becoming age eligible on an ongoing basis, but dancers who have already been selected/invited previously will be re-evaluated and re-invited on a more seasonal basis.
TREO dancers will have a dedicated class each week year-round, with the time adjusted on a seasonal basis, to focus on the following: Testing and improving upon measurable benchmarks for strength, flexibility, and dance specific foundations such as turn out (hip mobility), toe height (plantar flexion), arching.
TREO dancers will have a personalized portfolio of all of their measured testing to demonstrate improvement over time, instructor notes, and a digital classroom of resources to help dancers work on their weaknesses.
TREO dancers is a small group of like-minded individuals and team unity, encouragement of one another, and demonstrating support is a core focus.
TREO dancers will be committed to attending one local/regional feis in the fall, spring, and your choice of winter/summer.
TREO dancers will be committed to participating in local performances at least once in 2026, with the minimum increasing on the next round of TREO.
We are making a significant investment in our young, rising stars at SRL. The spring season of TREO has funding allocated to the dancers who accept their invitation to this program. We will continue to raise funds to subsidize as many opportunities as we can for dancers who remain engaged in the program; however we can only guarantee that TREO will be 100% subsidized through June 30, 2026.
Dancers who accept their invitation to join TREO and register through the parent portal before March 20th will have their first TREO CREDIT added to their account in advance of the eighth billing cycle. TREO credits will be added to your account in April and in May to cover the tuition for TREO through our tenth and final billing cycle of 2025-2026. If you register after March 20th, you risk your credit not being applied before our billing cycle runs; while the accounting can be adjusted going forward, it means you’re going to pay for TREO in billing cycle eight and recoup that cost in billing cycle 9.
