_______________________________________________________
Important Dates
• Exam Date: Friday, 21 August 2026 between the hours of 9:00AM and 5:00PM
• Assessor: Mrs. Andrea Dalton
• Additional Training Dates: Saturday 18 & 25 July, and Saturday 8 & 15 August
• Registration & Payment Due Date: Sunday, 21 June 2026
• Location: Dance Plus Studio, Gympie
_______________________________________________________
Detailed information
• Assessment Format: Candidates are assessed in groups by a qualified ATOD assessor. To maintain a neutral environment, certified ATOD teacher (Miss Kath) will be present only to run the musical accompaniment and will not observe or grade the candidates.
• Duration: Each assessment runs between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the level. Each level is assigned a specific timeslot, so candidates do not need to attend all day.
• Awards: Each candidate receives an individual report, certificate, and medal. Please note: A minimum of 2 nominations is required per level. If only one nomination is received for a specific level, we will contact you directly to discuss options.
Additional Focused Training
The additional training sessions scheduled in July and August are critical for certificate candidates.
• Fees: This training is invoiced separately alongside your regular Term 3 tuition; it is not included in the initial exam registration fee.
• Attendance: If your child is unable to attend all Saturday training dates, they may still participate. However, please keep in mind that missing sessions is likely to affect their final outcome. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed training sessions.
Regulation Uniform Requirements
A regulation uniform is required for the exam, which differs from our standard DP logo uniform.
• Details: Details of uniform can be found in the portal under Shared Files → 2026 Examinations.
• Sourcing: Uniforms can be ordered or purchased directly at DANCELIFE (143 Pine Street).
ATOD Theory Booklets
Candidates for Bronze Medal, Bronze Star, Silver Medal, Silver Star, Gold Medal, and Gold Star require a genre-specific ATOD theory booklet.
• This booklet covers all six levels and only needs to be purchased once.
• The one-off cost is included in the registration fee for first-year ATOD exam candidates (2025 ATOD ballet candidates will already own this booklet).
• Please note: Theory booklets cannot be shared between candidates or photocopied.
Home Practice Support via BAND App
To support candidates practicing at home, we set up individual, high-security groups on the BAND app for each level.
• The app can be installed on mobile devices or laptops.
• We use this platform to share instructional videos, technical tips, and to give students a space to ask technical questions.
• Access to your dancer's BAND group will be enabled as soon as registration payment is received.

Assessment Options
To ensure formal assessment is accessible to everyone, ATOD provides two distinct options. We will guide you as to the most appropriate choice for your dancer.
• Option 1: Graded Assessment
Includes a comprehensive report with feedback covering all skills, an overall grading, a percentage mark, a medal, and the ATOD certificate. This option is best suited for students who are confident and competent in all set material/theory, and who consistently achieve a minimum standard of 'pass' across all technical sections.
• Option 2: Participant
Includes a comprehensive report with feedback covering all skills, a medal, and the ATOD certificate, but does not include a final grading or percentage mark. This option is open to all students, but is particularly ideal for dancers recovering from injury/illness, those who experience severe performance anxiety, or newer dancers with less training experience.
Results & Presentation
Results typically arrive within 6 weeks of the exam date. Individual results are kept strictly confidential; they are not announced publicly or shared with anyone other than the candidate. Presentation of the ATOD medals and certificates will take place in a formal ceremony on stage during our annual concert in November.

***IMPORTANT***
The fee you are paying today is a registration fee only. Payment of this fee indicates your agreement to all conditions stated here:
The registration fee covers: ATOD administration; examiner’s wage; individual report, certificate and medal; theory booklet if applicable. It does not cover payment for additional training in Saturday workshops through August. Saturday workshops are invoiced together with regular tuition in Term 3.
Ballet and tap exams are offered in partnership with the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD).
While we highly encourage participation formal assessment is offered as a supplement to regular dance training and is completely optional.
