Master Classes 2026
Foot Health Workshop
The Foot Health Workshop is wonderful for everyone - whether you walk, run, or dance!
During the first half of the workshop, participants will learn fascial, neural and muscular releases. The second half of the workshop will be strengthening the lower leg and foot. After taking the workshop, dancers often report a deeper pilé, higher relevé, feeling more grounded, better line through the low leg and foot, better pain management, and ease of movement. This workshop will be a valuable resource for a more successful and healthy dance journey.
The "Why", from instructor Kerry Shea:
After more than 20 years as a professional dancer and movement educator, I noticed a significant gap in dancers’ understanding of foot care and the knowledge available in dance science and medicine as of 2026. Many dancers were sustaining preventable injuries, not reaching their full potential, and even dancers in top ballet companies faced delayed rehabilitation due to this disconnect. This inspired me to create a workshop that equips dancers with the vital tools for optimal performance, injury prevention, and effective rehabilitation.
Kerry Shea is a former professional ballet dancer and dance conditioning specialist. She holds a contemporary Pilates certification through Stott Pilates and a 600-hour classical certification under the tutelage of Roberta Kirschenbaum. She earned her BFA from the University of Utah and has extensive continuing education with dance anatomy master teacher Irene Dowd, physiotherapist Lisa Howell, fascia anatomist Tom Myers, and The Royal Ballet. Her own personal Pilates practice spans over 33 years with private instruction from many 1st-generation teachers such as Mary Bowen and Deborah Lesson.
Shea was featured in POINTE Magazine and Pilates Style Magazine for her work with dancers and is often asked to be a contributing expert in articles for Dance Teacher Magazine. She is honored to be a dance specialist with Doctors For Dancers and a member of IADMS. For the last 20 years, through her own business Kerry Shea Pilates, Shea teaches in-person and virtually with dancers from around the world.

Ballet Master Class
Christopher's class focuses on refining the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. Using joy and positive energy, he likes to challenge dancers to stand taller, work with clarity, and build confidence.
Christopher Charles McDaniel began his ballet training at Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH), under the legendary Arthur Mitchell. He is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, and furthered his training at Boston Ballet and Ballet Academy East (BAE). His professional career began with the DTH Ensemble, and went on to the Los Angeles Ballet and Ballet San Antonio. In 2021, he joined the faculty of the School of American Ballet as a Teaching Fellow. After six seasons touring globally with DTH, Christopher retired from performing and became the first person of color to join SAB’s Permanent Faculty without having trained there or danced with New York City Ballet—a historic milestone featured in Dance Teacher magazine. With a deep commitment to diversity, education, and innovation, Christopher Charles McDaniel continues to inspire the next generation of artists through every facet of his work.
For dancers in SABB Ballet 4 and up; or dancers 12 years old and up with a minimum of 3 consecutive years of consistent ballet training.
