TUE 4-5 yr Beg 1 Tap/Ballet

Beginner 1 Tap and Ballet Classes are recreation classes recommended for beginners of all ages and pre-school students. This class is for first-time dancers and dancers new to CD. This class uses the basics taught in creative movement and expands their knowledge of ballet terminology using barre and across-the-floor combinations. Special emphasis is given to technique and body placement to improve balance and control. Stretch and flexibility exercises are included. The second part of the class is devoted to tap. The tap technique is introduced, and all aspects of the tap shoe are worked to create different sounds. Terminology and counting are the emphases to facilitate their patterns and weight changes required for alternate footwork. Children are taught to build patterns from the basic shuffle. Heelwork begins after they have mastered the basics.
