Teen Dance Program (Ages 11 & Up)
For Beginners and Returning Dancers

Our Teen Dance Program is designed specifically for pre-teens and older students who are either new to dance or returning after a long break. We understand that starting dance later in life—or jumping back in after time away—can be intimidating, especially when placed in classes with much younger dancers. That’s why we created a welcoming and age-appropriate environment where students can build confidence while developing strong foundational skills in various dance styles.

This program is paced to fast-track students through the fundamentals with the goal of preparing them to transition into level-based classes alongside their peers within one year. With consistent attendance and hard work, dancers will gain the technique, strength, and coordination needed to thrive in a full dance program. Whether your dancer is rediscovering a childhood passion or trying dance for the first time, this class offers the perfect starting point.

Tap dancing is a rhythmic and expressive dance style named for the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch the hard floor. It emphasises precision, timing and syncopation, making it both a musical and physical challenge as dancers create intricate beats and patterns from the tapping sounds. Through dynamic footwork and lively sequences, tap dancers engage with the music, creating a unique performance that blends sound and movement.
Tap dancing with Ready Set Dance provides numerous benefits for kids. It helps develop rhythm, coordination and musicality while building essential motor skills like balance and control. With a strong focus on technique, kids can express their creativity through rhythmic patterns. Tap dance also boosts self-confidence as children master intricate footwork and perform in front of others.

When learning music dynamics, tempo and rhythm, our little dancers will listen to instructions, respond to tempo changes and copy a rhythm through tap dancing. Kids will build literacy capabilities, as they improve active listening and develop phonemic awareness needed for reading.

Ballet 1 for ages 8-10 is a foundational classical dance class designed for older beginners or students transitioning from pre-ballet. It focuses on building core technique, proper body alignment, muscle memory, and an understanding of traditional classroom etiquette and French terminology.
A typical Ballet 1 class is structured to develop strength and discipline in a focused but engaging way:

Barre Work: Students spend significant time at the barre learning the fundamental foot and arm positions, demi-pliés (half bends), tendus (stretching the foot), and basic balancing.

Center Floor & Across the Floor: Exercises transition to the center of the room to practice posture without the support of the barre. This includes basic jumps (sautés), turning steps (pirouette preparations), and graceful arm movements (port de bras).

Flexibility & Conditioning: Students engage in targeted floor stretches and core-strengthening exercises to safely build the stamina required for ballet.

Level Placement Policy
At 3NMotion Dance Studio, all dancers are placed first according to their ballet technique, knowledge, and overall skill level. Ballet serves as the foundation of our training program and provides the framework for placement in all other dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, leaps and turns, and other technique-based classes.
Once a dancer's ballet level is determined, that level will generally remain consistent across their other dance disciplines to ensure proper progression and development. The only exception is Acrobatics, which is evaluated and placed separately based on each dancer's acrobatic skills, strength, flexibility, and mastery of specific acrobatic elements.
