Rally O - Beginners
RallyO is a combination of obedience and agility, and is suitable for all ages of dogs and people.
Young dogs learn in a more relaxing environment. Old dogs can keep active whilst not overdoing it!
It is fun and challenging for the owners (learning what the various signs mean and then teaching their dogs to do it!) and not as physically demanding as agility.

Agility - Foundation
Requirements:
Dogs must gain an assessment pass in Canine Good Basics as the minimum requirement for enrolling, and preferably attended the Dog Manners class as well, or an equivalent
We cannot take reactive or aggressive dogs in this class.
Dogs cannot be overweight
Dogs must be over the age of 12 months and under the age of 7 years
Handlers must have a good level of control of their dogs when off lead, this means that your dog does not run off after other dogs or run away from you when you call it to you, and comes back to you immediately when called.
Your dog must have the ability to work with you in an exciting, busy environment. We understand there could be initial high-level excitement, and you will be encouraged through that initial stage.
Foundation agility is for those handlers/dogs new to agility. This class puts the focus of having fun while you and your dog are learning lots of new skills. In this class we will introduce jumps and tunnels and show you some important skills you will need to work on at home. These include skills your dog will need for the contact obstacles (dog walk, see-saw and A-frame).
You may attend Foundation class for a maximum of two consecutive terms (20 classes) after which you will be ready to move on to the Beginners classes or it will be recommended that you have a go at other sports Upper Hutt Dog Training Club offers.

Agility - New Beginners
Your foundation class instructor will let you know when you are ready to advance from foundation to this class. In the Beginners class, we will work on some handling skills that will enable you to guide your dog around an agility course. We also introduce your dog to other obstacles they will see on a beginner course at a competition (hoops, long jumps and blind jumps). We also progress with the contact skills you learnt in the foundation class. Lots of learning happens in the Beginner's class, where we step up our training. Your dog will start learning to weave and begin contact training on the dog walk. A-frame training begins at Beginners class.

Scentwork - Beginners
Scent Work, based on the task of working detection dogs, is a positive, challenging activity that allows dogs to use their strongest natural sense in a way that is fun and engaging. This class is all about imprinting the dog with the first search odour
Requirements:
Dogs must already be imprinted with Cedar wood odour (Essential Oils)
Dogs must be at least 12 months old
Dogs must have passed Canine Good Basics, and preferably the Dog Manners class
