Shining Stars Dance School classes are divided by age first then level. Be sure to read the description of the class to determine if it is a good fit for your dancer.
2026-2027 Season
Monday 4:00-4:30 Ages 2.5-4 Pre-Dance
This is a great starting place for the younger students. At Shining Stars Dance School we strive to provide activities that will emphasize learning of the skills needed to prepare dancers for success in dance and in life. In our pre dance classes your Shining Star will practice hopping, jumping, balance, flexibility, coordination, classroom behavior, following directions, and SO MUCH MORE! This class will do one dance in the spring recital! They will need pink ballet shoes, leotard and tights and hair up for the classroom. This class is NOT eligible for the multiclass discount.
Ages 2.5 - 4

This is a ballet / Acro AND tap combination class designed for preschool (age 4.5) thru kindergarten. This class will consist of acro, ballet and tap every class as we learn basic technique, helping your child with rhythms, fluid movement and self-discipline, strength, confidence and grace. At Shining Stars our preschool classes are designed to prepare your child to be more confident in the world around them. We will work on classroom behavior, following directions, memorizing sequences, coordination, balance, and musicality as well as skipping, turning, leaping, jumping and gross motor skills! In this class we will also work on acro such as forward and backward roll, hand and head stands, cartwheels, etc. This class will do acro, ballet and tap technique at all classes and will perform TWO dances at recital. They will have one costume for spring recital. This class is NOT eligible for the multiclass discount. Dancers will need pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes.

This class is for ages ADVANCED 9+ and you must also be enrolled in a jazz class. This class IS part of the multi-class discount. We may go barefoot and you will also need jazz shoes.

In "acro" class we will focus on "tricks" or gymnastics floor type skills that are used in dance. This class is for students who are ready to fly! Students must already have MASTERED forward roll, bridge up, backbend, handstand, tuck jump and candlestick, cartwheel, one handed cartwheel, round-off, kick over, back roll, fish flop, head stand, elbow stand and toe touch. This level class will work on side ariel, front ariel, front and back walkovers, back hand spring, back tuck, head spring, kip up, chin stand, spider and hand and elbow balancing and more.

Tap dancing is a great way to develop musicality, timing and balance! This class is $50 a month or, if you choose, $15 a class paid in cash at the start of class. Come learn a new skill and bring your friends! You can try class a few weeks with a slick bottom shoe before purchasing tap shoes but, to really get the most out of class, tap shoes are needed and make class much more fun!
This class will do 30-45 min of tap and the rest of the class time will be various other styles such as ballet, jazz, musical theatre, line dancing, and more!
Dancers that are participating in the recital for this class must be enrolled in the class (not doing drop in only) by February.

Tap dance is a unique style of dance that is characterized by shoes with metal taps that allow the dancer to make rhythmic and percussive sounds with the feet. At Shining Stars, we use a graded tap system to help our dancers progress and grow. This particular tap class would be for older beginners or mature 9 year olds with at least one year of tap experience and have permission. Beginner dancers ages 10+ should start in this tap class but, this class will be great for ages 10+ with experience as well.

Tap dance is a unique style of dance that is characterized by shoes with metal taps that allow the dancer to make rhythmic and percussive sounds with the feet. At Shining Stars, we use a graded tap system to help our dancers progress and grow. This particular tap class would be for older beginners or mature 9 year olds with at least one year of tap experience and have permission. Beginner dancers ages 10+ should start in this tap class but, this class will be great for ages 10+ with experience as well.

Thursday 4:30-5:15 Age 10+ Ballet / Lyrical
This class is full
This class will be ballet AND lyrical. About 30 minutes will be spent on ballet and 15 on lyrical. This combo class is great for students who have had years of dance or older beginning dancers. Ballet is a classical and technical form of dance using precise steps with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. Ballet is a graceful yet disciplined form of dance. Lyrical dance is comprised of both ballet and jazz technique and the movement is often inspired by the lyrics of the music as well as emotion and expression of the choreographer through the movement of the dancer. A leotard or form fitting top and leggings or tights are strongly suggested dress for this class. Baggy Tee Shirts and baggy pants are not allowed. Hair must be up and off the face. Students will need pink ballet shoes and these shoes can be used for the lyrical portion as well.

This is a ballet and tap combination class and we will also work on acro skills as time allows. This class will consist of both ballet and tap every class as we learn basic technique for both, helping your child with rhythms, fluid movement and self discipline. At Shining Stars our pre school classes are designed to prepare your child to be more confident in the world around them. We will work on classroom behavior, following directions, memorizing sequences, coordination, balance, and musicality as well as skipping, turning, leaping, and learning to lead and follow! As time allows we will also work basic acro skills such as forward roll, cartwheel, handstand, etc. This class will do both ballet and tap technique at all classes and will perform two dances at recital. They will have one costume for spring recital. This class is NOT eligible for the multiclass discount. Dancers will need pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Dancers that are 4.5 yrs old need to have had at least one year of ballet and tap previously.
