Level 3
In level 3, students continue to get experience in all of our circus disciplines at an intermediate/advanced level. Students will focus intently on improving upon their skills in acrobatics, juggling, balancing, aerial and clowning with a focus on partner acrobatics and the specialty of their choice. Students will also further hone their strength, flexibility, coordination, and stage presence. Alongside all of the psychomotor skills associated with specific circus skills students will learn, this class aims to foster growth and awareness in affective behaviors in line with our mission of social circus including empathy, social emotional learning, resilience, trust, teamwork, and self-confidence. This class also gives more freedom of choice in act performance and choreography, providing students with more leadership and ownership over their creative, athletic, and noncompetitive circus work! Students enrolled in this class are usually involved in other specialty classes with us including tumbling, aerial, contortion, and juggling to support their focused training. Level two students are expected to work outside of class on strength and flexibility exercises they are taught. While the desire to join the St. Louis Arches is not expected from all students at this level, the skill requirements of joining the Arches are the guiding requirements. Students from this class may also be invited to perform in youth circus showcases on Sundays at City Museum.
Class Requirements
Prerequisites: Age 10-18, at least two sessions (often more) of Level 2 Circus Arts, showing proficiency in skill checklist in the majority of disciplines for Level 3. Teacher approval required.

Beginner Tumbling
We see tumbling as the basic building block that all circus arts are based on. In beginning tumbling, students will learn the basics of body positions, engagement, and form to build a strong foundation to grow their tumbling skills. Specifically, students will learn forward and backward rolls, backbends, walkovers and handstands. This class will improve body control, spatial awareness, and graceful movement. Conditioning is regularly integrated into class to support the development of good technique. Most classes will also include elements of Mini Trampoline.
Notes
For students working up to a back handspring.
