BACK TUMBLING PROGRESSIONS- September 19 & 26

A focused 2-day workshop for dancers ready to develop and advance their back tumbling skills, including back handsprings, back tucks, and back layouts. Heather will use drills, conditioning, technique breakdowns, and individualized progressions to help dancers understand how each skill works, correct common mistakes, and build the strength and confidence needed to safely move to the next level.

SIDE + FRONT AERIAL PROGRESSIONS - September 19 & 26

This 2 day clinic is designed for dancers working toward stronger, more consistent side and front aerials. Heather will break down the mechanics of each skill through targeted drills, strength work, technique corrections, and step-by-step progressions. Dancers will build the power, placement, confidence, and control needed to safely progress their aerial skills.

Classical ballet is at the heart of all our technical practices. This level introduces and builds on classical positions and fundamental ideas. Our classes begin seated working through body lines and positions, we will incorporate barre and center work along with developmentally appropriate progressions across the floor. Dancers will focus on proper body alignment, posture, and basic ballet vocabulary. Rhythm class is geared toward young dancers and takes a strategic, age-appropriate approach to bridging the gap from ballet to genres like jazz, hip hop, tap, etc. This class will incorporate rhythmic phrases to upbeat music. At the class’s pace, dancers will begin learning how to count music, retain simple choreography, as well as practice how to dance in unison with a group in and out of formations.

Beginner Acro
Acro for dance at the beginner level will focus on skills including: front rolls, bridge-ups, handstands, headstands, inversions, cartwheels, front/back walkovers, toe falls/toe rises, etc. Dancers who have already mastered these skills will be offered boutique workshops focused on more specific/advanced skills on an as-needed basis. In order to maximize time spent on acro skills, if your child is not taking a movement based dance class before acro, we encourage them to warm up on their own ahead of class to prevent injury.

Our Beginner Acro class is designed to introduce dancers to the foundational skills of acrobatics in a safe, encouraging, and technique-focused environment. Dancers will work on building strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and body awareness while learning beginner acro skills such as handstands, headstands, toe rises, cartwheels, dive rolls, and bridges. Classes focus on proper progressions, alignment, and control while helping dancers gain confidence and develop the strong technical foundation needed for future acro training. Perfect for dancers who are new to acro or looking to strengthen their basic skills!

Most classes will focus improving our technique and skills, but we will also incorporate the occasional opportunity to learn a short piece of choreography in class where we will practice incorporating personal style in and out of technical skills.

Our Ballroom classes are a fun and welcoming introduction to partner dancing! Dancers will explore foundational ballroom styles while learning rhythm, coordination, posture, musicality, teamwork, and confidence in a supportive environment. Since this is a brand-new program, all dancers will be considered beginners, making it the perfect time to jump in and learn together. Age groupings are simply recommendations, and dancers of all ages are welcome in any class, as instruction and material will be similar across levels.

3rd-4th Ballet Methods
This class is a continuation of our Ballet Methods classes for younger ages. We will still do some of our beginning class work on the floor, but we will increase time spent at the barre, and begin incorporating the use of classical port de bras with our footwork. Proper body alignment and posture will be highly stressed. Combinations will increase in difficulty as we continue to refine our technical details.

Middle School Drill Prep Class - Precision Jazz Technique with Kick + Pom (Ages 12-15)
Precision class is our version of Drill. We encourage dancers who plan to audition for a high school drill team or who aspire to be on a college dance team take this class. Precision class will incorporate classic jazz technique with power-based pom work, kick line technique, and sometimes hip hop. We will also incorporate specific power-based elements like specialty jumps and turns that may or may not also be practiced in a jazz technique class. We are proud to be the dance home of many officers and drill team members from various schools/dance teams across the metroplex. Our Precision classes will be led by former or current drill team officers. Dancers hoping to make a college team are encouraged to take hip hop and participate in acro clinics to stay on top of skills necessary for college teams.

Contemporary dance combines ballet technique/lines with story-telling, groundedness, floor work, and jazz/modern-influenced style. In Contemporary classes we will put our technical practice to work as we explore how to use emotion, shape, and body language to tell a story with choreography. Contemporary classes will vary from week to week, sometimes practicing technical progressions across the floor, learning choreography excerpts, exploring floor work, as well as guided improvisational work. We highly recommend anyone taking Contemporary to also enroll in Ballet and Jazz.

Get ready to hit the dance floor! Co-Ed Country Western Prep is a fun, high-energy class designed for dancers who want to learn the fundamentals of country western partner dancing. Taught by two current members of the Lake Highlands High School Wranglers, this class introduces students to basic partner dance technique, footwork, timing, lead-and-follow skills, and popular country western dances in a welcoming, team-oriented environment.
Perfect for both boys and girls, this class builds confidence, coordination, rhythm, and social dance skills while giving dancers a head start for future school dance teams, Wrangler auditions, or simply enjoying country dancing at school and community events. No partner or previous experience is required—partners will rotate throughout class as needed.

Middle School Drill Prep Class - Precision Jazz Technique with Kick + Pom (Ages 12-15)
Precision class is our version of Drill. We encourage dancers who plan to audition for a high school drill team or who aspire to be on a college dance team take this class. Precision class will incorporate classic jazz technique with power-based pom work, kick line technique, and sometimes hip hop. We will also incorporate specific power-based elements like specialty jumps and turns that may or may not also be practiced in a jazz technique class. We are proud to be the dance home of many officers and drill team members from various schools/dance teams across the metroplex. Our Precision classes will be led by former or current drill team officers. Dancers hoping to make a college team are encouraged to take hip hop and participate in acro clinics to stay on top of skills necessary for college teams.

College Prep class is a dynamic, power-based class where dancers will stretch, condition, and work on specific power skills needed for college team auditions. Dancers hoping to make a college team are encouraged to also take hip hop and participate in our acro clinics throughout the year to stay on top of skills necessary for college teams. College prep will always include across the floor work and a college dance style piece of choreo, or pom!
