Modern is a broad genre of western concert or theatrical dance which includes elements of styles such as ballet, folk, ethnic, religious and social dancing. It is a highly expressive style of dance that challenges the structured dance technique of classical ballet. Students will learn one or a blend of the following techniques: Alexander Technique, Cunningham, Graham, Horton and Limon. Age group 10-18.

Tap is a style of dance characterized by the sound of the metal tap striking the floor. Tap utilizes rhythm, syncopation and sound in addition to movement. Rhythmic skills are developed as tap feet become percussive instruments. Strength and control of the legs, ankles, and feet are increased while developing a keener ear for music. Age group 10-18.

Flamenco
Flamenco dance (baile) is a highly-expressive Spanish dance form. The flamenco is a solo dance characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm & body movements. The dance is usually accompanied by a singer and guitar player. Flamenco styles total about 50 different varieties. These styles are characterized by a particular pattern of rhythms called compas which are made up of a series of toques or beats. This dance, which is inspired by the Andalusian gypsy culture, is focused on evoking and communicating passion, love, sadness, despair, joy & more. This Spanish dance is now recognized as a symbol of Spain's identity and it has spread to many different corners of the world. Age group 10-18.
