Join us for a magical journey through Carnival of the Animals in this playful ballet and creative movement class designed especially for little dancers ages 3 to 6! Each week, we’ll explore the enchanting music of Saint-Saëns, bringing animals like the swan, elephant, lion, and kangaroo to life through imaginative movement and introductory ballet steps.
Children will express themselves through dance, storytelling, and rhythm, all while developing coordination, creativity, and confidence in a nurturing environment. Every class also includes a themed arts and crafts activity that complements the animal of the day—perfect for sparking young imaginations!

Ballet 3 is a progressive level designed for students who have successfully built a strong technical foundation in Ballet 2. Dancers in this class will refine their technique, musicality, and artistry while being introduced to more complex movement sequences and increased strength training.
This level also marks the beginning of pre-pointe work, where students will develop the necessary strength and alignment required for pointe readiness. Through structured exercises at the barre and in the center, dancers will focus on improving balance, control, and foot articulation to prepare for the next stage of their ballet training.
In addition to ballet technique, students at this level will also train in contemporary and jazz dance to enhance their versatility, musicality, and movement quality. These complementary styles help dancers expand their artistry, coordination, and expression beyond classical ballet.
Consistent attendance, discipline, and dedication are essential at this level. Placement is required for enrollment. Proper ballet attire is expected.

Ballet 2 is the second formal level in the School of Rochester City Ballet’s curriculum, designed for students who have successfully completed at least one year of ballet training and have been placed into this level by instructor evaluation. This class builds upon foundational ballet technique, introducing more complex barre and center work while continuing to develop strength, flexibility, and musicality.
Students will refine their posture, alignment, and coordination through a progressive syllabus tailored to foster artistic expression and technical growth. Emphasis will be placed on proper body positioning, increased movement vocabulary, and an understanding of ballet terminology. Ballet 2 provides an encouraging environment for young dancers to expand their skills and gain confidence as they advance in their training.
In addition to ballet technique, students in this level will also take jazz classes, allowing them to explore different movement styles, enhance their rhythm, and build versatility as dancers.
On Saturdays, Ballet 2 will be 1.5 hours, followed by Stretch & Strength for 30 minutes to support flexibility, endurance, and injury prevention.
Placement is required for enrollment. Ballet attire and dedication to consistent practice are expected.
