Important Parking Information

Dear Nutcracker Families,

As we approach Nutcracker season and enjoy the excitement of downtown Victoria, we want to take a moment to clarify our parking guidelines and reinforce some important safety reminders. We've communicated this before, but continued issues make it necessary to restate these policies clearly. Your cooperation is essential in helping us keep our dancers safe and maintain good relationships with our downtown neighbors.

Where You May Park
Lot Behind the Studio: You may park here only after 5:00 PM on weekdays and at any time on weekends.

Parking Garage (One O'Connor Plaza): You may park here on weekends only, and at your own risk and responsibility. The garage may sometimes be closed or charge a fee during downtown events.

Public Parking: You are welcome to use the library lot and street parking downtown.

Drop-off: Dancers may always be dropped off safely at the back door of the studio.

Where You May Not Park
At no time may anyone affiliated with Victoria Ballet Theatre park in the surface lot across the street at One O'Connor Plaza. This lot is private property, and parking there constitutes trespassing. The owners are within their rights to tow vehicles or place violation stickers on them.

Safety First
The safety of our dancers is our top priority. Recently, a child was nearly struck by a vehicle in a nearby lot — a reminder that we must all stay vigilant.
Whether in a parking lot or crossing the street, children must always be attended to. If your dancer is too young to stand safely alone, please hold their hand and guide them carefully to and from the building. Please remind older dancers to use crosswalks and to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

Why This Matters
Our neighbors have been incredibly generous in allowing us to use nearby lots and the parking garage. These privileges are extended to us in the spirit of community, and it's essential that we show gratitude and respect by following their rules. Ignoring these guidelines jeopardizes these partnerships and reflects poorly on our organization.

We know that downtown parking can sometimes be inconvenient, but the vibrant atmosphere and cultural energy of our downtown location are well worth the effort. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and commitment to keeping our children safe and Victoria Ballet Theatre a valued part of the community.

Thank you,
Brenda Tally
