Aristocats Musical Dance Camp
Welcome to our Aristocats Musical Dance Camp, where we will explore movement in ballet, jazz, creative movement and more in this fun theme! This is fun one where we get to focus on a musical themed dance, learning about musical instruments, music notes, and how to move differently to them. At the end of the week come early to pick you kiddo up at 2pm wo watch a showcase themed in the Aristocats musical dance show! They will be making cat masks and other fun projects during the week. Snacks are included, however lunch is not. So please pack a lunch for your kiddo!

Fairyland Dance Camp
Welcome to our Magical Fairyland Dance Camp, where we will explore movement in ballet, jazz, creative movement and more in this fun theme! We will also have some ballet/ dance and music related crafts and learning of classical ballet's that relate to each of our weekly themes! And the end of the week on Friday, come to pick up your kids early at 2pm to watch a showcase for the last 30 minutes, of the dances that they learned this week! We will be making fairy houses, which will be super fun for all ages! Snacks are included, however lunch is not. So please pack a lunch for your kiddo!

Acting, improv, choreography, anatomy, turns, flexibility improvement, ankle strengthening, and tumbling at starz gym. Anatomy diagrams, collage time, goal setting, and inspirational videos/classical ballet watching will also be added in for a fun engaging break between classes. Come be inspired to work on your goals, and just have a good time in the studio this summer!

Apprentice I/II
Apprentice I & II will have a1.5 hour ballet class followed by 30 minutes of pre pointe/pointe. Each student will be encouraged to fill out goals they have for the intensive, the fall session, and for the year. We encourage student to think about what they are hoping to get out of their time in class so we can partner with them to help achieve their goals. At the end of the intensive, they will have an evaluation by their teachers, which will decided if there will be any level changes for your child.

Beginning I/II Dance Intensive
Each summer before our fall session starts, we have a dance intensive for our Mendocino Ballet School students. If you are new to the program or returning, you are required to take this intensive or a placement class in order to be considered for placement, or level changes. The intensive for our Beginning I/II students 1.5 hour 3 days a week for the second week of the intensive only. After an evaluation from their teachers, students will be assigned to their level after their week intensive. If you are NEW and have NOT been in our Ballet School Program, you may register for our intro classes on Wednesday and Friday for your child to be evaluated for our ballet school.

This class will consist of 1.5 hour ballet class with 1 hour of point/ repertoire/variations. Classes may have modern/contemporary added in in place of ballet. This is TBD by the teacher. Please make sure you come prepared with pointe shoes (that are not dead). We will have audition for Nutcracker on Saturday August 9th after the intensive. Please let your teachers know if you cannot make it to all of the classes, as this intensive is required in order to be placed into the 'Company' level of the ballet school.

Intro to Ballet I
This class is designed for the beginning ballet student, with no experience required for 6 year old's. If you have a 5 year old starting out for the first time, we recommend starting with the pre-ballet class. In this class, an increased vocabulary of basic ballet technique and terminology are introduced to the student along with a continuation of elements from the Pre-Ballet class: the eight locomotor skills, musicality and rhythm, spatial awareness. Flexibility and strength building are also incorporated in the class as well as using imagination and creativity to create movement phrases. Both boys and girls can benefit from this learning experience in a fun and positive environment. Class size is limited to allow for individual attention and space.

The basic elements of movement and dance are taught in our Pre-Ballet classes for ages 3-5 as follows: Space and how the student relates to it, the eight basic locomotor movements, musical rhythm, beat and time, opposites and directions, and elementary positions of ballet, which is the foundation of all traditional dance forms. Integrated with these physical concepts are the intellectual concepts of self-awareness, creative expression, and imagination. Students also learn the basic concepts of classroom behavior and manners, which remain the same throughout their dancing years: how to take turns, following instruction, leading the way, waiting patiently, maintaining a positive attitude, and working together with others. Class content is based on appropriate developmental skills for their specific age. Both boys and girls can benefit from this learning experience in a fun and positive environment. Tap/Ballet
Ballet/Tap and Tap classes are offered for ages 5 1/2 - 8 years old. Tap dancing is a fun style of dance that anyone can learn, regardless of previous dance experience. Benefits of tap dance include increasing cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility and coordination. Tap builds strength in the legs and feet in addition to increasing flexibility in the hips, knees and ankles. Tap dancing also develops a great sense of rhythm and timing with a focus on music awareness while incorporating tap steps and combinations.

Teen Adult Ballet
Classes for teens and adults who have had some ballet training, whether recently or in the past, or are beginners who want to explore the joy of Classical Ballet, this is the class for you! This is a mixed level class, offered to all levels.

Modern/Contemporary
Contemporary, Modern, and Jazz Dance classes offer an exciting way to experience the many styles of dance forms in the classroom. With Ballet as the foundation for all dance forms, students will be introduced to the many styles of dance, from classical and contemporary ballet to jazz and modern dance, in a safe and family-friendly environment. Proper technique is emphasized with the benefits of building strength, flexibility, and increasing musicality. A special Intro to Contemporary, and Modern Dance introduces students between the ages of 8-12 to these dance forms. We offer age appropriate curriculum in a professional environment where students learn proper technique while having FUN!
