Tap dance is a skill that is vital for a young performer to know if they are looking to explore the world of musical theater, increasing their casting opportunities. Often, they start training when a show featuring tap is impending - and realize they should have learned sooner. This THREE WEEK musical theater-themed tap class teaches the basics of tap technique and stylings common in musical theater, with the goal of setting the dancer up to understand basic terminology in an audition or move into a regular course of study.

How many iconic tap dance musicals can you think of? Tap dance is a skill that is vital for a young performer to know if they are looking to explore the world of musical theater, increasing their casting opportunities. Often, they start training when a show featuring tap is impending - and realize they should have learned sooner. This THREE WEEK musical theater-themed tap class teaches the basics of tap technique and stylings common in musical theater, with the goal of setting the dancer up to understand basic terminology in an audition or move into a regular course of study.

Preteen/Teen Tap: Absolute Beginner Basics (age 11-18)
It’s never too late to start a dance journey! For the preteen or teen who wants to learn how to tap, this is a THREE WEEK introduction to the basics of tap dance - fundamental steps, technique, musicality and improvisational elements that are key to taking tap classes or learning basic tap choreography. Dancers will leave this session with introductory knowledge of the basics of tap dance to start them on their “hoofer” journey! (Dancers can also register for the Tap for Theater class that takes place the following three weeks in this time slot.)
