Intro to Aerial (July)
Want to try aerial, but unsure where to start?! Our introduction series is perfect for those new to aerial. Each class begins with a 15-20 minute warm up, followed by conditioning, and skills. Each week, students will be introduced to a new apparatus: fabric, trapeze and lyra. Focus will be on overall flexibility, building upper body and core strength along with shoulder stability. Basic fundamentals will be taught: climbing, inversions and different shapes on the apparatus.

This camp is for our Swifties at the studio! Each day will be filled with Taylor Swift music, aerial fabric technique, and of course, friendship bracelet making. This camp is for our silks-loving aerialists, or new friends who are interested in learning the foundations! Our coach will guide students in learning various wraps, shapes, and basic drops on fabric and sling (sling has similar techniques to fabric, but instead of having two tails the fabric is hung like a hammock). On 8/15, the last 15 minutes of class will be reserved for campers to share a mini routine with friends and families.

This camp is especially designed for Int/adv dancers/gymnasts looking to try aerial, or for current students that meet prereqs. Students will be guided through a dance style warm up, followed by conditioning/active flexibility drills on the ground, and we will take those foundations into the air. This camp will primarily focus on fabric material, but we may dabble in other apparatus that inspire us. We anticipate this camp to move at a slightly quicker learning pace being that all attendees will be coming in with a background in movement. The last 15 mins of camp on 7/18 will be reserved to share skills learned with friends and families.
Prerequisites: If you are a current student with us, please inquire for camp approval. All other interested participants must submit video audition to salemaerialdancecompany@gmail.com by 6/20 including the following; :30 of performance/practice videos, a photo of splits L, R, C, and a photo of a bridge/backbend

This camp is for our aerialists that enjoy the spotlight, taking their skills beyond 'doing the tricks' and weaving in personal expression. In this week-long camp we will explore creative concepts that can lead to act development. Pulling inspiration from images, collaboration, and nature - together we will develop material to be filmed in a collaborative effort with Tippy Toe Dance Studio. Filming will take place the first week of August, date TBD. Likely a weekday morning. The film will be presented and played at the Grand Theater (date TBD, tentative 8/28), with SADC being featured as guest artists.
Prerequisites: must be a level 1.5+ student with us, or current performing co. member
Additional fee: Film Fee of $125 due to tippy toe dance studio when invoiced
Additional commitment: please keep mornings in the 1st week of August open for filming with Tippy Toe Dance Studio. Filming date and location TBD
