Advanced 1 Ballet
Recommended age: 13+ years
This challenging class is for dancers ready to make the significant leap from intermediate to the second-highest level of classical training available at CoEvolve Studios. Following the internationally recognised ISTD syllabus, dancers refine and perfect their classical technique while advancing pointe work, preparing for advanced-level challenges.
Vocational-level exams push students to demonstrate all aspects of their training—from classical terminology and barre work to adage, allegro, port de bras, and pointe skills. These mandatory ISTD Major Ballet exams are taken when dancers are fully ready, with guidance from their teacher and the studio director. Most dancers train for two years before sitting these exams.
After exams, dancers bring their training to life in choreography for our annual end-of-year ballet production, complete with costumes, theatre rehearsals, and the thrill of performing on stage.
NB: Students sitting the Advanced 1 Ballet exam must have previously sat ISTD Intermediate Ballet or a similar cross-creditable level in another syllabus.
What’s included in the fees:
Two Advanced 1 Ballet classes per week
Pointe Level 2 and Level 3 (Dancers please talk to your teachers about which pointe class is right for you)
One Intermediate Ballet class per week (Optional)
Designed to be taken alongside:

Preparatory Acrobatics
Recommended age: 6-8 years* (*NB: Acrobatics is a skill based class, so ages are not as important)
Preparatory acrobatics is an awesome first taste of the world of acrobatics. This class is used both as a stepping stone to the exam levels, and as assessment session designed for teachers to observe skills and place students in the level that best matches their ability and experience and as a vessel for late comers to quickly learn foundational skills, allowing them to join their peers in a higher level.
In this class, dancers train using the internationally recognised Acrobatic Arts syllabus, a comprehensive AcroDance programme used by thousands of studios worldwide. Acrobatic Arts blends strength, flexibility, balancing, limbering, and tumbling with dance technique, helping students build powerful fundamentals and safe, progressive skills.
The syllabus is designed with input from experts across dance, acrobatics, physiotherapy, and performance, and provides clear, step‑by‑step progressions that allow dancers to develop confidently and safely through every level.
