Suggested age: 8-11 years
This class utilizes the floor exercises that help them build the strength and muscle memory to perform the steps at the barre and in the center correctly. Strengthening and stretching are still a high priority as dancers at this age are laying the foundation for their dance lives. Dancers learn more steps at the barre and center as we begin introducing more combinations of steps.
Class Requirements: Must show a developmentally appropriate understanding of plié, tendu, jeté, relevé, spring points, retiré, feet positions 1 & 2, port de bras, and focus during class. *Dancers may join as beginners on a trial basis and will be placed according to their needs*

Strengthening and stretching are a major focus as we are beginning to prepare students for pointe work. Includes end of semester evaluations.
Class Requirements: Must show a working knowledge of barre exercises, placement, feet and arm positions, and focus during class. *Dancers may join as beginners on a trial basis and will be placed according to their needs*

*Includes exercises from the Runqiao Du Training Program* This class follows the same structure as Preparatory Level 1, but is offered in the daytime, specifically for homeschoolers. This is also a great class for older beginners as we take some more time at the beginning of the school year to go over basics (although basics are good for everyone!). Strengthening, stretching and proper placement are a major focus as we move through the ballet class.

In this class we introduce the fun and pizzazz of both tap AND jazz dance! Dancers learn how to create a different quality of movement to upbeat, fun, age-appropriate music. They will enjoy both the structure and freedom that jazz offers as they express themselves in new ways. They will also learn the basics of rhythm-making in tap. This class will alternate doing tap one week and jazz the next to give full focus to each style.
