Practical Contortion
Practical Contortion is a class that focuses on applicable flexibility. By learning about joint anatomy, recovery, and specialized stretching methods you will be able to apply your flexibility into skills. 

This class will cycle through three different weeks. With a maximum class size of 8, this allows for opportunities to make personalized recovery, conditioning, or stretching plans as we go through the course.

Anatomy Focused

• Will rotate through different muscle groups.
• Lots of notes and talking about the why behind stretching positions and muscle engagement.
• Highlights the joint structure and how to safely stretch the muscles surrounding the joints without irritation.
• Discussions about hyper mobility.

Skill Focused

• Thorough full body warmup and stretch.
• Notes and discussion about how to use all the muscle groups together and which ones feed into the others.
• Working towards applying flexibility on the ground with skills such as elbow stands, handstands, chest stands, bridges, walkovers, split rolls, etc…

Recovery

• Full body roll out and recovery.
• Discussions regarding how to identify irritated areas and what to do about them.
• Highlight the difference between warming up a muscle versus conditioning and strengthening the muscle. When to do each one, and how to identify how that changes if area is irritated or injured.
• Time for personal questions.
• Notes on what each individual person learns they need as class goes on.

Advanced Aerial Arts Development
Open to any Intermediate or Advanced student with an audition.
Max 5 students with 2 instructors

This program is designed to aid young performing artists in accomplishing their performance goals. It involves student adjusted skill development alongside performance theory, musicality, conditioning, and professional development.

This program will alternate between 3 cycles depending on the time of year and student needs.

Growth Cycle:
Students focus on growing their skillset in all areas. More time is spent exploring and testing ideas with a larger volume of short routines. Professional etiquette and development will also be highlighted during this time. Skill development will be optimized to support growth.

Creation Cycle:
Students begin to focus their efforts towards 1-2 routines that will serve a larger purpose eg: competition, stage show. More lot of time is spent on choreography, musicality and design techniques. Skill development will be optimized to creating material to serve the creative process.

Prep Cycle:
Students focus towards event prep and cleaning routines. More time is spent on performance techniques and event success strategies. Skill development will be optimized towards troubleshooting weaknesses in routine skills and cleaning lines.

This program will also connect with local artists working in the circus arts.

This class is not a skill development class and requires a pre-existing skill base.

Explorative Floor
Explorative Floor is a class that expands the skill vocabulary of floor disciplines that use soft or hard acrobatics. It uses dance and acrobatic theory to multiply the skills an artist has access to for the purpose of creating floor content for performing or competing.

This class is open to any performative floor discipline as long as the student can roll forwards and backwards, can cartwheel, and can briefly hold 1 static pose without using their feet.

• Uses Laban and composition to structure sequences.
• Approaches skills from both strength and flexibility depending on students predisposed method.
• Teaches the differences between gymnastics based acrobatics and mobility/urban based acrobatics.
• Notes and discussions on available skill variations based on current skill sets.
