This contemporary dance class explores the expressive and athletic qualities of movement through a fusion of modern, ballet, and improvisational techniques. Dancers will build strength, flexibility, and fluidity while learning to express choreography. Each class includes a warm-up, floor work, center combinations, and across-the-floor progressions. Emphasis is placed on musicality, storytelling, and expression while encouraging creativity, experimentation, and growth as we use dance to honor and worship God! Director approval is required to register for this class.

Preschool Tumbling Monday
This fun-filled tumbling class is designed just for our youngest movers! Through games, obstacle courses, and basic gymnastics skills, children will develop coordination, balance, strength, and confidence in a safe and encouraging environment. Our little tumblers will learn foundational movements like rolls, jumps, bear crawls, stretches, and more—all while building listening skills and body awareness. With a focus on play-based learning, this class will help children grow physically and socially while having a blast! Tumbling is a non-performing class and therefore does not participate in the yearly spring recital. However, special parent observation days are planned for both the fall and spring semesters so parents can enjoy seeing the progress and skills their children have learned!

Pre-Pointe & Pointe Technique
Our Pre-pointe and Pointe Technique class is for our students who have already mastered the basics of ballet and are moving forward with more advanced technique. Students must be approved to attend this class by the director and a co-requisite ballet class is required. PrePointe/Pointe students are required to attend ballet multiple days per week as proper ballet technique relies on consistent strength development, conditioning, and muscle memory that cannot be sufficiently achieved through a single weekly class. Additional training allows students to retain corrections, progress more effectively, prevent injuries, and build the technical foundation necessary for continued advancement.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Pre-Pointe does not guarantee an admission to pointe. Admission to pointe is based solely upon demonstration of proper preparation. Pre-pointe is focused on training the proper muscles for pointe. One of the most important factors for admission to pointe is development of foot/ankle strength. Dancers grow and mature at different rates and have different foot and bone structures. Pre-pointe provides professional and specific exercises to maximize likelihood of admission to pointe. Pointe is the most challenging of all of the dance forms offered at Sanctuary Dance Academy. Dancers must be evaluated for pointe before approval.

Senior Dance Company (Enrollment by Invitation Only)
Sanctuary Dance Academy's Dance Company is a wonderful opportunity to use dance to reach others with the love of God! As a company, students will be instructed in dance choreography from the beginning of the semester, with an extra emphasis on stage presence and presentation. Each class will also include a short devotional. While this class focuses primarily on choreography, strength, flexibility, and strong dance technique will also be practiced and emphasized in class and students will see their abilities as a dancer strengthen and grow as they participate!
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Students must be invited to audition for the performance team.
2) Students MUST take at least one ballet class AND an additional style of dance (jazz, worship, or contemporary) in addition to the company class.
3) Students must be committed to class. Two or more absences in a semester may mean they have a smaller part in the choreography or may be taken out of a dance altogether, if their attendance is too low.
4) Students must commit to taking part in performances. At least one performance per semester will be scheduled, with additional performances possible as well. Performances scheduled at least one month in advance will be considered required attendance. Local performances* may consist of community events, performances in assisted living homes, church events, etc.! (*Performances are considered local if they are within a one-hour drive from the studio location.)

We hope you will join us!

This upbeat and stylized class focuses on the foundations of jazz technique — sharp movements, dynamic footwork, turns, jumps, and expressive performance quality. While rooted in traditional and contemporary jazz styles, dancers will also explore moments of fluidity and emotion inspired by lyrical dance to enhance musicality and storytelling. Set to a mix of Christian pop and contemporary music, this class is perfect for dancers who want to develop strong technique while adding depth and style to their movement. It’s the perfect class for kids who want to move with both power and style! This class is designed for students who have previous dance experience. Adult Worship & International Dance (8 Week Session Aug. 13 - Oct. 1)
Adult Worship & International Dance is a welcoming class for adults who desire to worship through movement in a meaningful and creative way! This class blends worship dance with international styles and incorporates the use of banners to create beautiful expressions of praise. Students will build coordination, strength, and confidence in a fun and welcoming community! Whether you are brand new to dance or have prior experience, this class offers an exciting space to grow, move, and worship together. We hope you'll join us!

Junior Dance Company (Enrollment by Invitation Only)
Sanctuary Dance Academy's Junior Dance Company is a wonderful opportunity to use dance to reach others with the love of God! As a company, students will be instructed in dance choreography from the beginning of the semester, with an extra emphasis on stage presence and presentation. Each class will also include a short devotional. While this class focuses primarily on choreography, strength, flexibility, and strong dance technique will also be practiced and emphasized in class and students will see their abilities as a dancer strengthen and grow as they participate!
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Students must be at least 8 years old to participate (younger students by director approval only)
2) Students MUST take at least one ballet class in addition to the company class (taking multiple dance styles like worship, jazz, and contemporary is highly encouraged but not required for Junior Company)
3) Students must be committed to class. Three or more absences in a semester may mean they have a smaller part in the choreography or may be taken out of a dance altogether if their attendance is too low.
4) Students must commit to taking part in performances. At least one performance per semester will be scheduled, with additional performances possible as well. Performances scheduled at least one month in advance will be considered required attendance. Local performances* may consist of community events, performances in assisted living homes, church events, etc.! (*Performances are considered local if they are within a one-hour drive from the studio location.)
