Ballet Contemporary Level 1 (Grades 1st - 2nd)
Ballet Contemporary combines the technique, precision, and placement of Ballet with the articulation, fluidity, and groundedness of Contemporary. Dancers will go through the traditional Ballet class structure while integrating Contemporary concepts; for example, a plié exercise that also explores contracting through the spine. Both classical Ballet and Contemporary style music will be used in this class as a way to promote better understanding movement and musicality. At least once a month, dancers will also participate in a composition/improvisation exercise that helps them to train not only their technique, but also their creative abilities and dance voice.

PLEASE NOTE: Our end of year recital is scheduled for May 7th, with a dress rehearsal on May 6th. Both will be held at the Weber State University Browning Center. All classes, except for Acro, Pre-Pointe, and adult dance classes are currently working on choreography and costumes have already been ordered for the recital. Our registration system is set up to automatically add a charge your account for the costume and recital fee, when you add a recital class. Please DO NOT pay this charge until we can confirm that there is a costume available to order (costume companies run low in stock this time of year). Costume and recital fees are non-refundable. That said, participation in the recital is optional. If you would like to opt out this year, your dancer will still learn the recital dance, but will not perform it on the stage. We will have an informal showing at the end of the year to showcase their work. If you would like to opt out of recital, you must let us know within a week of registration.

Musical Theater Jazz Level 2/3 (Grades 3rd - 6th)
This upbeat class teaches Jazz technique through the lens of Musical Theater. In addition to traditional Jazz techniques of isolation, contraction, and percussiveness, dancers will work on musicality, theatricality, and expressiveness to prepare them for Broadway! Both Musical Theater and fun upbeat music will be used for this class.

Dancers in Levels 2 - 4 are required to take two days of technique class per week. This year the schedule is allowing for you to choose what classes you would like to take. One of those classes must be a Ballet class while the other can be Contemporary, Musical Theater Jazz, or an additional Ballet class. Pre-Pointe and Acro do not count as a full technique classes as they are much shorter than required. They are, however, great classes to add on.

C - Contemporary Level 4 and 5 (Grades 7th - 12th)
Contemporary dance is a melding together of many different dance genres, including Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Dancers in this class will be lead through Contemporary technique concepts like ground work, fall and recovery, inversion, and contraction. Class will also consist of regular composition and improvisation work as well as technique building exercises to develop industry standard movements of turns, leaps, and kicks. Dancers will showcase what they have learned in an informal showing for their families during the last week of the session (August 4th - 8th).

Elevé dancers wanting to participate in Level 4 or 5 during the 2025-2026 school year, are required to take technique classes during the summer. Level 4 and 5 students must take 15 hours of technique classes over the course of the summer (technique classes include Ballet, Contemporary, or Jazz, with an emphasis on the importance of Ballet). This is the equivalent of a technique intensive for their level. Or, dancers can choose a couple weekly classes to take weekly through the summer. Dancers are welcome to take more than those class requirements, if they wish. Summer is a great time to develop technique.

ON JUNE 24TH, DANCERS IN THIS CLASS WILL ATTEND THE LEVEL 4 AND 5 TECHNIQUE INTENSIVE'S CONTEMPORARY CLASS FROM 10:00 - 11:00.
