Ballet (Beginner) | Meyer
Louisa Chapman*
This class is structured as an advanced beginner class but it is open to all levels of beginners, including first-time-students. Rather than getting stuck on rudimentary fundamentals, I am passionate that students learn while experiencing the joy of moving their body fully in a ballet environment. Class always begins with a brief explanation and exploration of alignment principles, basic feet positions, and basic arm positions. Terminology, ballet etiquette, and ballet traffic patterns are taught on-the-go as we move from facing the barre, to a one-handed grip, and into simple center-work. One to two new steps are taught at barre every class and repeated freely during center work. Modifications are given throughout class to adjust for absolute beginners as well as advanced students implementing a coordinated port de bras and épaulement.

*Ballet slippers are required for this class.
