2026 Theatre Classes
The Junior Class (ages 7-11)
This is a FREE CLASS being made possible by a partnership with the Ctrl-ART-Del
Within this class, we will develop strategies for preparing our bodies to work onstage, including
breath/vocal work and movement exercises. Classes will include theatre warm-ups and play-
based exercises, designed to teach body awareness, focus, improv basics, and to help students
identify specific motivations and emotions when performing.
Over the three weeks, we will work on short scenes from an age appropriate play, giving
students an opportunity to put their new skills and strategies into practice. On the final day of the
courses, friends and families are invited into class for the last half hour to watch a performance
of these scenes.
Students are expected to do some at home rehearsal between classes, to become comfortable
with their scripts. No memorization is required, and students will be allowed to use scripts for the
final presentation.
At the outcome of this course students will have an improved sense of their body, both
physically and emotionally, which will help them strengthen their personal relationships as well
as be more successful in social and educational situations. Students will also have an improved
confidence and ability to navigate a variety of situations, aided by the improv and
communication skills honed during the workshops. This course will benefit students in both
educational and social situations.
Prerequisites: Students should be able to independently read simple text.

The Teen Class (ages 12+)
This is a FREE CLASS being made possible by a partnership with the Ctrl-ART-Del
As with the junior class, teens will develop strategies to feel present, focused, and free of
tension onstage. Through theatre and improv games, warm-ups, and vocal and physical
exercises, students will learn skills to identify motivations and emotions in performance, take up
space with confidence, develop personal strategies for channeling onstage energy and nerves,
and learn how to communicate clear choices, power dynamics and characters through
movement.
To put their skills to the test, students will be cast in short scenes from contemporary plays.
Teens also have the option of bringing in a short monologue of their choosing for coaching.
Students are expected to do some at home rehearsal between classes, to become comfortable
with their scripts. No memorization is required, and students will be allowed to use scripts for the
final presentation.
At the outcome of this course students will have an improved sense of connection between their
physical body and their emotional and mental state. This will help them navigate difficult social
and emotional situations in school, work, and home life. Students will also have an improved
confidence and ability to navigate a variety of situations, including in asserting themselves, in
building their self-confidence, and in communicating and advocating for themselves clearly. This
course will benefit students in both educational and social situations as they learn how to
become more self-aware and how to effectively communicate when in stressful situations.
