Contemporary blends several types of dance into its own unique style. It includes elements of ballet, jazz, modern, and even hip hop. Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotions. It focuses on spatial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, technique, efficiency of muscle usage, musicality and safe body alignment. Technical dance experience is recommended for this class.

A strong emphasis is placed on performance quality and building confidence within your own execution.

Dancers will work on proper alignment, strength, flexibility, understanding of body awareness, and mobility to help improve their execution of leaps, turns, jumps, extensions, and other dance skills/tricks. Class will include warm-up, isolations, stretches, and across-the-floor progressions. It feels incredible to nail these moves, and it is the closest feeling you'll get to flying!

The class will focus on building strength, perfecting technique, and maintaining proper alignment, all of which are essential for dancers to develop a solid foundation for safe and successful pointe work. By combining pre-pointe exercises and beginner pointe techniques, students will gain confidence and grace in their pointe shoes.
