2nd-4th Gr Ballet, Tap & Jazz (Show B)
Our 2nd-4th grade ballet, tap & jazz combo class will dive deeper into ballet terminology & technique while building upon tap fundamentals & musicality and introducing the style of jazz. This class emphasizes the development of rhythm and technique while encouraging your dancer to develop their own unique style and build on their love of dance. This class is suitable for recreational dancers from beginner-intermediate levels. Please note that registration in our summer program is non-refundable.

Shoes: Students need pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes, black, patent leather, Mary Jane tap shoes, and black, leather, slip-on jazz shoes. The recommended shoes are listed in our online store: https://www.shopnimbly.com/abovethebarre

Dress Code: Female students should wear ballet pink or light suntan tights, a leotard, and a ballet skirt (optional) to every dance class. Shoes: Students need ballet pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to get sized for your appropriate shoes or select a pair from our consignment selection!

Dress Code: Female students should wear ballet pink or light suntan tights, a leotard, and a ballet skirt (optional) to every dance class. Male students should wear jazz pants or joggers and a t-shirt so that they can move freely. All shoulder length hair should be worn tied back and out of their face.

Musical Theater (6-8)
Our new musical theater program is designed for both beginner dancers and those with experience. Our focus will be on teaching performance quality, communicating emotions through movement, and studying the movements & performances of classic musicals. Students should wear athletic clothing like leggings and t-shirts/tank tops. Shoes will be tan leather slip on jazz shoes.

For the program's first year, we plan to have our musical theater students perform at our 2027 recital. In future years, this may culminate in a performance that is separate from our recital (and include singing & acting!). We are so excited to step into the musical theater world - stay tuned for more growth!

For preschool aged children on their second year of ballet & tap combo. Your dancer learn build on the basics basics they learned last year and continue to devleop rhythm and coordination. Every class emphasizes proper terms and technique while our teaching styles embrace fun and a passion for dance!

Shoes: Students need ballet pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes and black, patent leather, Mary Jane tap shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to get sized for an appropriate pair and place your orders prior to the season's start date!

Dress Code: Female students should wear ballet pink or light suntan tights, a leotard, and a ballet skirt (optional) to every dance class. Shoes: Students need black, patent leather, Mary Jane tap shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to get properly sized and order your shoes prior to the season's start date.

Dress Code: Female students should wear a leotard (with or without skirts) and tights. Male students should wear black joggers/sweats and a t-shirt. All hair should be pulled up in a ponytail or bun to keep out of face. Short hair may be pushed back with a headband.

Shoes: Students need tan, leather, slip on jazz shoes. Students will be able to come into the studio to try on shoes and place an order prior to the start of the season.

Our advanced is suitable those with a background in hip hop dance. Students will learn to follow and memorize hip hop choreography, intermediate/advanced floor progressions, advance in their movements, and begin to put their own personality into their dancing. Shoes: Students need pale pink, hanami (cross strap), canvas ballet shoes. Students will be able to come into the studio and try on shoes prior to the season's start date.

Shoes: To help maintain the integrity of our floors, we are requiring specific sneakers for our hip hop dancers. These will also be the same sneakers required at recital time! The front desk will be measuring students and ordering the sneakers prior to our session start.

Our new musical theater program is designed for both beginner dancers and those with experience. Our focus will be on teaching performance quality, communicating emotions through movement, and studying the movements & performances of classic musicals. For the program's first year, we plan to have our musical theater students perform at our 2027 recital. In future years, this may culminate in a performance that is separate from our recital (and include singing & acting!). This 30 minute "mommy & me" style class will include obstacles, basic ballet dances, props, and creative movement. We are so excited to add this class as part of our weekly schedule. This is the perfect way to introduce your tiny dancer to our studio and get them acclimated to a lightly structured class!

Tiny Dancers is a non-recital class and there is no long-term commitment to join. An autopay method is required to be on file in order to participate in Tiny Dancers. Participants are automatically re-enrolled from month to month unless we are notified otherwise. In the event of withdrawals, we do ask for the courtesy of a 1 week notice prior to the first of each month so that we can add any students from our waitlist.

Our beginner acro class is beginner friendly and geared toward students who want to learn how to increase their flexibility, complete beginner acrobatics skills, and will have the opportunity to work at their own pace. Students who can already do an independent backbend kicker, have strong handstands, and and clean cartwheels should join our Intermediate Acro 1 class.

Dress Code: For our acro classes, children will be barefoot. To make sure they do not slip, we recommend wearing either footless tights or no tights. A leotard must be worn to allow teachers to properly view form and easily spot tumbling moves.

Our new musical theater program is designed for both beginner dancers and those with experience. Our focus will be on teaching performance quality, communicating emotions through movement, and studying the movements & performances of classic musicals. For the program's first year, we plan to have our musical theater students perform at our 2027 recital. In future years, this may culminate in a performance that is separate from our recital (and include singing & acting!). In our contemporary class, students will learn a new style - a mixture of ballet & jazz - where they can tell a story and learn to express their emotions through choreography.

Our tumbling tots class is a perfect first step into the world of tumbling. We will build on the skills learned in Tumbling Tots (3-4) but no prior experience is required. Students will learn to do independent bridges, handstand, cartwheels, and acro specific stretches.

Our beginner acro class is beginner friendly and geared toward students who want to learn how to increase their flexibility, complete beginner acrobatics skills, and will have the opportunity to work at their own pace. Students who can already do an independent backbend kicker, have strong handstands, and and clean cartwheels should join our Intermediate Acro 1 class.

Dress Code: For our acro classes, children will be barefoot. To make sure they do not slip, we recommend wearing either footless tights or no tights. A leotard must be worn to allow teachers to properly view form and easily spot tumbling moves.

For preschool aged children on their first year of ballet & tap combo. Your dancer learn basic ballet technique and develop rhythm and coordination through tap. Every class emphasizes proper terms and technique while our teaching styles embrace fun and a passion for dance!

Shoes: Students need ballet pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes and black, patent leather, Mary Jane tap shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to get sized for an appropriate pair and place your orders prior to the season's start date!

Dress Code: Female students should wear ballet pink or light suntan tights, a leotard, and a ballet skirt (optional) to every dance class. Male students should wear jazz pants or joggers and a t-shirt (not too loose please!) so that they can move freely. All shoulder length hair should be worn tied back and out of their face.

Pre Ballet (Saturdays)
Pre Ballet is our introductory independent ballet class for dancers aged 2.5-3.5. Each class will consist of creative movement songs, basic ballet technique, props, and games. Your baby dancer will learn to love music and movement with us!

Shoes: Students need ballet pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to get sized for your appropriate shoes or select a pair from our consignment selection!

Every class emphasizes proper terms and technique while our teaching styles embrace fun and a passion for dance!

Our K-1st ballet & tap combo class is a natural progression from our preschool ballet & tap class but is also suitable for beginner students of this age. This class emphasizes the development of rhythm and technique while encouraging your dancer to develop their own unique style and build on their love of dance.

Shoes: Students need ballet pink, single strap, no-tie, leather ballet shoes and black, patent leather, Mary Jane tap shoes. You will be able to come into the studio to be properly sized and order your shoes prior to the start of the season.

Tumbling Tots (3-4)
Our tumbling tots class is a perfect first step into the world of tumbling. We'll focus on basic body positioning, flexibility, and jumps while developing strength and introducing basic tumbling skills. No prior experience is required. Please note that registration in our summer program is non-refundable.

Students should wear a leotard (no tights please) to every class. No footwear is required and class will be taken barefoot.
