This class is aimed at students ages 12+ who have completed Hip Hop Level 3/4 or have at least 2-3 years of prior dance experience in a jazz or hip hop style. Students should have an intermediate to advanced understanding of dance movement prior to enrollment.
Required Attire:
Students should wear (Black) High Top Converse Shoes. These shoes provide the necessary support and flexibility for Hip Hop movements while maintaining a uniform appearance among dancers. In addition to Black High Top Converse Shoes, students should wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement, such as leggings, joggers, t-shirts, or tank tops. Hair should be neatly secured away from the face to ensure safety and focus during dance activities.

Mastery of passé walks in relevé, step crosses, chaine turn preparation, and understanding of ball changes are expected prior to enrollment.

Ballet Academy Level 3 (Supplemental Class)
We encourage all Ballet Academy dancers to take an additional class to enhance their training. Supplemental classes allow dancers to refine their technique, build strength, and gain confidence in their movement.

First-year dancers in a new level are encouraged to take a class in the level below to reinforce their foundation.
Second-year dancers in their current level may benefit from taking a class in the level above to prepare for advancement.
This class follows the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) curriculum and provides dancers with additional training time, exposure to different instructors, and the opportunity to develop their artistry.

Students will aim to improve their speed and technique with weekly drills and exercises as well as refine their improvisation and choreography retention. Students will have the opportunity to choreograph their own pieces and gain experience with teaching tap dance.
The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Tap Level 5 AND instructor recommendation
Mastery of Shiggy bops, double pullbacks and wings, toe stands
Knowledge of advanced and intricate rhythms and counting music
Comfortable with improvisation
Required Shoes: Dancers should have any color, hard-soled, Oxford-style lace up tap shoe for every day class. Dancers wishing to learn to dance in tap heels should communicate with the instructor for appropriate classes where heeled tap shoes can be worn.

Students will continue building strength and flexibility while working on more complex steps and more challenging combinations of movements at both the barre and in center while developing the port de bras in those movements.

At this level, students should have a strong understanding of technique where they can build upon more advanced technique and tricks. Concurrent enrollment in a ballet class is highly recommended.
Mastery of clean double and triple pirouettes in passe and coupe, fouetté turn preparations at the barre and in center, leap variations (calypso, saut de chat, surprise leap, center/side leap, C jump, stag, back attitude), battements, leg holds, developes in center, quick weight shifts and direction changes utilizing plié, the ability to quickly retain and perform movement combinations and choreography, and comfort with floorwork and improvisation are expected prior to enrollment.
In this class, students will work on mastering turn and pirouette variations (front attitude, back attitude, pencil, changing positions mid-turn, continuing movement right out of turns), fouetté turns and turn combinations in center, advanced leap variations (turning C jumps, firebirds, reverse, pop leaps), illusions, leg grab turns, and advanced movement combinations, improvisation exercises, and floorwork/floor tricks.

Completion of Jazz Level 5 AND instructor recommendation
Comfortable with improvisation
Mastery of picking up combinations quickly, multiple leap variations (saut de chat, center leap, surprise leap, C jump, calypso, renversés, tilt jumps, turning axel), double and triple pirouettes, battements and leg holds utilizing control, direction changes utilizing skills learned in Jazz Level 5, a la seconde turn preparation (at the barre and in center) are expected prior to enrollment.
Students should be working towards a la seconde turn sequences, advanced leap variations (butterfly jumps, turning C jumps, reverse leaps, firebird/release leaps, switch leaps, switch arabesques, turning discs, hook jumps, etc.), turn variations (pencil, tabletop, front and back attitude turns, pirouettes into jumps/leaps), leg holds and leg grab turns (En Dedans and En Dehors).

Mastery of alternating chassés, single pirouettes, passé skips, pivot turns, grapevines, jazz squares, three step turns and front battements are expected prior to enrollment.

Students will work on more complex tricks and variations/combinations of tricks learned in Tumbling Level 2. Students will refine their ability to execute their tricks with proper technique and control while increasing their strength and flexibility.
The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Tumbling Level 2 with instructor recommendation
Mastery of straddle forward and backward rolls to standing, back extension roll to push up position, handstand with at least a 3 second hold, handstand forward roll, one handed cartwheel (near and far hand), roundoff with a rebound, backbend, front limber, and bridge kickover is expected prior to enrollment.
Students should be working toward tick-tocks, front walkovers, back walkovers, cartwheel variations, side aerials, and back handsprings throughout the course of Tumbling Level 3.

Dancers will learn more complex movements and begin performing some combinations with one hand on the barre. Emphasis will continue to be on maintaining alignment and correct muscle engagement, especially while adding the relevé. Dancers will develop their port de bras and begin adding more challenging center movements including small turns and jumps.

Contemporary Level 5/6
This class is aimed at students who are ages 11+ who have at least 2 years of prior dance experience or have completed contemporary level 4. Concurrent enrollment in a ballet class is highly recommended.
Mastery of clean double pirouettes in passe and coupe, fouetté turn preparations at the barre, leap variations (saut de chat, surprise leap, center/side leap) with proper step chassé preparation, battement combinations across the floor, weight shifts and direction changes utilizing plié, the ability to quickly retain and perform movement combinations and choreography, and comfort with basic floorwork and improvisation are expected prior to enrollment.
In this class, students will work on mastering triple pirouettes in passé and coupé, fouetté turn preparations in center, leap variations (calypso, c jump, stag, back attitude), battements, leg holds, developés in center, quick weight shifts and direction changes utilizing plié, movement combinations, improvisation exercises, and floorwork/floor tricks.

The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Tap Level 2 or Tap Level 2/3 Beginner with instructor recommendation
Mastery of drawbacks and maxie ford steps and all Level 2 prerequisites is expected prior to enrollment.
Required Shoes: Dancers should have black Oxford-style lace up tap shoes with a hard sole to provide appropriate foot support.

Completion of Tap Level 3, Tap Level ¾ Beginner, or Beginner Teen Tap with instructor recommendation
Mastery of basic time steps, Broadway, Cincinnati steps
Familiarity with counting music and basic improvisation
Required Shoes: Dancers should have black Oxford-style lace up tap shoes with a hard sole to provide appropriate foot support.

Tumbling Level 4
This tumbling class is intended for youth with at least 1-2 years of experience in tumbling. Students will work on more complex tricks and variations/combinations of tricks learned in Tumbling Level 3. Students will refine their ability to execute their tricks with proper technique and control while increasing their strength and flexibility.
The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Tumbling Level 3 with instructor recommendation
Mastery of straddle forward and backward rolls to standing, back extension roll to push up position, handstand with at least a 3 second hold, handstand forward roll, one handed cartwheel (near and far hand), roundoff with a rebound, backbend, front limber, and bridge kickover is expected prior to enrollment.
Students should be working toward tick-tocks, front walkovers, back walkovers, cartwheel variations, side aerials, and back handsprings throughout the course of Tumbling Level 4.

This class is intended for youth with at least 2-3 years of prior dance experience in ballet, jazz, or contemporary. The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Jazz Level 3, Ballet Level 3, or Contemporary Level 3.
Mastery of chassé step leap, pas de bourres, full battement combos (front, side and back), single pirouettes with variations such as ball changes or in across the floor combinations, and direction changes using skills learned in Jazz Level 3 is expected prior to enrollment.

In this class, dancers will work on mastering double pirouettes in passé and coupé, leap variations (saut de chat, surprise leap, center/side leap) with proper step chassé preparation, battement combinations across the floor, weight shifts and direction changes utilizing plié, and floorwork.

Mastery of passé walks in relevé, step crosses, chaine turn preparation, and understanding of ball changes are expected prior to enrollment.

Contemporary Level 3- This class is aimed at students ages 9-10 who have at least 1 year of prior dance experience or have completed Contemporary Level 2. Students should have a basic understanding of ballet technique to enroll in this class. Concurrent enrollment in a ballet class is highly recommended.
Mastery of alternating chassés, single pirouettes in passé, triplets, leap preparations, chassés side to side, three step turns and front battements are expected prior to enrollment.
In this class, students with work on pirouette technique and adding in a coupé pirouette variation, saut de chats with proper step chassé preparation, battement combinations across the floor (front, side, back), pas de bourres, chaine turns, pique turns, across the floor combinations utilizing level changes, weight shifts, and bal changes.

This tap class is intended for teens with several years of prior tap dance experience. Students will fine-tune their rhythmic techniques through advanced exercises and drills, work on stylistic dancing through learning a variety of choreographed combinations, and hone their improvisation skills with monthly challenges.
The following are prerequisites for enrollment:
Completion of Tap Level 4 AND instructor recommendation
Mastery of pullbacks and wings
Knowledge of advanced rhythms and counting music
Basic fundamentals of improvisation
Required Shoes: Dancers may wear any color hard-soled, Oxford-style lace up tap shoes.

Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers to develop a strong foundation in ballet while growing technically and artistically. Academy students will attend weekly classes and rehearsals, and have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. Placement exam or teacher recommendation is required for this level. Students will be completing more complex barre work with one hand while adding on more port de bras and épaulement. The focus will continue to be on alignment and correct muscle engagement. Dancers will continue learning more complex center steps including traveling steps, pirouettes, center adagio, petit allegro, and an introduction to larger jumps.

Ballet Academy Level 3
Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers to develop a strong foundation in ballet while growing technically and artistically. Academy students will attend weekly classes and rehearsals, and have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. Placement exam or teacher recommendation is required for this level. Students will be completing more complex barre work with one hand while adding on more port de bras and épaulement. The focus will continue to be on alignment and correct muscle engagement. Dancers will continue learning more complex center steps including traveling steps, pirouettes, center adagio, petit allegro, and an introduction to larger jumps.

Ballet Academy Level 1
This ballet class is aimed at students ages 5-7 who either took a pre ballet class or have no prior dance experience. Dancers must be at least 5 years of age by the first day of class. Dancers will learn basic ballet steps as well as begin working with two hands on the barre. They will continue to work on rhythm, coordination, and flexibility, while being introduced to the concept of turnout.

Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers to develop a strong foundation in ballet while growing technically and artistically. Academy students will attend weekly classes and rehearsals, and have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. Placement exam or teacher recommendation is required for this level. By this level dancers will have an additional focus on their artistry while maintaining their barre and center work. More complex jumps and turns will be focused on such as turns in open positions, battu, and saut de chat.

Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers to develop a strong foundation in ballet while growing technically and artistically. Academy students will attend weekly classes and rehearsals, and have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. Placement exam or teacher recommendation is required for this level. Dancers will learn more complex movements and begin performing some combinations with one hand on the barre. Emphasis will continue to be on maintaining alignment and correct muscle engagement, especially while adding the relevé. Dancers will develop their port de bras and begin adding more challenging center movements including small turns and jumps.

Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers to develop a strong foundation in ballet while growing technically and artistically. Academy students will attend weekly classes and rehearsals, and have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. Placement exam or teacher recommendation is required for this level. Dancers should have consistent use of correct alignment and muscle engagement by this level. They will continue to learn more complex steps at the barre and in center while adding full port de bras. Dancers will develop their center adagio, add multiple pirouettes and continue working on petit and grand allegro.

Ballet Academy Level 6
Artisan Ballet Academy is designed for dancers who have demonstrated a strong foundation in ballet and are ready to explore and develop their artistry further while fine-tuning their technique. Dancers in this level will be challenged with increasingly complex combinations, allowing them to expand their repertoire and refine their skills.
Students will continue to attend weekly classes and rehearsals, with a focus on honing their technique and artistic expression. They will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the nuances of ballet movement, musicality, and performance quality.
In addition to regular classwork, dancers in Level 6 will have the opportunity to participate in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance, showcasing their growth and artistry on stage. Placement in Level 6 is determined by a placement exam or teacher recommendation, ensuring that dancers are prepared for the challenges and expectations of this level.
Throughout Level 6, dancers will work on mastering advanced techniques such as intricate footwork, dynamic turns, and expressive movements. Emphasis will be placed on developing a strong artistic voice and stage presence, preparing dancers for future professional opportunities in the dance world.
Overall, Level 6 at Master Artisan Ballet Academy is a pivotal stage where dancers refine their artistry, deepen their technical abilities, and prepare for the next steps in their dance journey.
