Lyrical has more of a balletic form to it. So that means more fluid movement with a sadder and softer tone. Lyrical has specific lines and techniques to it, while contemporary has no rules and different movements. In contrast, Contemporary is a harder-hitting type of movement that is sharper and edgier that allows them to explore the differences in dynamic movement. In Contemporary, we will explore more floorwork, tricks, expressive movement, and allow the dancer to move their bodies in different ways that they never knew. It's a more challenging style that we've never explored for our recreational classes, but it's such a great way to show the dancers how expressive and unique dance can be as an art form.
