Competition Crew Expectations & Commitment
Competition Crews – Invitation Only
Our competition crews are by invitation only. Dancers are selected by Miss Claire and her teaching team based on their ability, attitude, commitment, work ethic, attendance and readiness to represent Miss Mac Dance Studio.
Being part of a competition crew is a privilege and requires commitment from both dancers and parents throughout the dance season.
As a Competition Crew Member, You Are Expected To:
• Attend your weekly crew rehearsal consistently.
• Be enrolled in at least one additional weekly technique class (such as Hip-Hop, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary or Modern/Jazz) to continue developing your technique, strength and foundations.
• Attend all compulsory rehearsals, intensives and workshops organised by Miss Claire throughout the year. These are essential to the development and success of the team.
• Commit to all scheduled competitions, showcases and performances wherever possible. Team routines rely on every dancer being present, and repeated absences can affect the entire crew and may result in choreography changes or a dancer losing their place within a routine.
• Practise choreography at home when requested and arrive prepared for every rehearsal.
• Purchase one new crew outfit each dance season. Additional competition costumes, footwear and accessories may also be required throughout the year.
• Follow all competition requirements, including hair, make-up, uniform and arrival times.
• Demonstrate excellent behaviour, respect, teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive attitude at all times, both inside and outside the studio. Every crew member represents Miss Mac Dance Studio whenever they wear our uniform.
Competitions & Performances
Miss Mac Dance Studio typically attends:
3–4 competitions each year
2 annual showcases
Additional performances, workshops or special events where appropriate.
Competition dates will be shared as early as possible, and we ask families to prioritise these events wherever possible.
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential. If a dancer is unable to attend a rehearsal, parents should notify the studio as early as possible.
Repeated absences may affect choreography, formations and the progress of the entire team. For this reason, continued attendance and commitment are expected throughout the season.
National & International Opportunities
Selection for national and international competitions, including events such as the Dance World Cup, is entirely at the discretion of Miss Claire and is based on commitment, attendance, attitude, progress, performance quality and readiness. Selection is never automatic.
Crew Membership
Competition crew places are reviewed throughout each season and are not automatically guaranteed from one year to the next. Dancers are encouraged to continue working hard, improving their technique and demonstrating commitment throughout the year.
Photography & Social Media
Photographs and videos may be taken during rehearsals, competitions and performances for promotional purposes unless the studio has been informed otherwise.
Our Commitment
Our competition programme is designed to provide dancers with exceptional training, unforgettable experiences and opportunities to perform and compete at the highest level. We ask every family to support the team by committing fully to the season and working together to create a positive, respectful and encouraging environment for all dancers.
We understand that competition dance is not the right fit for every family. If you are unable to commit to these expectations, our recreational classes continue to offer fantastic training, performance opportunities and a welcoming dance family where every dancer can thrive.
