Combo 1 (Mon)
Combo 1 is designed for children 3-5 yrs. Combo classes are a great way for students to experience the beginning fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and tap. Dancers will gain flexibility, basic technique, and self confidence through repetitive motor skill, coordination, and rhythm practice. Each combo class will perform two dances in the Corner Dance Studio's end-of-year performance. The main focus of these classes is on students having fun and enjoying dance as an everyday activity. Each level is based on the age and skill level of each student, and the classes are formatted to build upon the technique of the previous class. As always, our teachers aim to help each student feel confident, loved, and safe in the studio setting.

Dance with Me
This 30 minute class is for our youngest dancers (ages 2-3) and a parent or adult caretaker. Dancers will explore creative movement with their adult in a safe environment through exploration of songs, instruments, and guided movement instruction. Curriculum includes basic ballet terminology, which will be the foundation for later dancing instruction. If dancers and parents are interested, tap instruction will be added in January and class time will increase to 45 minutes. At the end of the year, dancers will have the opportunity to perform a short dance (with caretaker help) in our spring performance in order to expose them to performing in a positive and gradual manner. Ballet slippers are required for the littles, but caregivers can wear socks or bare feet.

This advanced Jazz class emphasizes techinque, artistry and athleticism. Focus on breaking down turns, leaps, placement, connecting movement so it flows, and building a dance vocabulary that will bring the dancer to the next level. Each class includes a technical warmup to find your center and floor work for strength and injury prevention. Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique and progressions including turns, kicks and leaps. This class will learn 2-3 dances.

Beginning Tumbling 1
Students will focus on building strength and coordination in order to perform the basics of tumbling. In Tumbling 1 we'll learn hand stands, back bends, forward rolls and variations, and cartwheels.

Hip-Hop 1
Children age 6-8 will love this class that brings hip-hop to their level. We teach all of the basic dance skills like keeping rhythm, following choreography and developing body control, as well as performance skills such as stage presence, taught through kid-friendly Hip-Hop. Students will perform a dance in the end-of-year recital. Students will perform a dance in the end-of-year recital.

Tap 9 & Advanced Clogging
This class with alternate between Advanced Tap 9 and Advanced Clogging. Students will be working on perfecting their sounds on their harder steps this year; double doubles, toe pullbacks, air pullbacks, flat pullbacks and jump pullbacks. We will be learning our double double arms, double pullbacks and heel pullbacks.

This class is required for the Ciel dance team, but also open to other students.

This class is designed for boys 8-12 yrs old and requires little to no knowledge of Hip-Hop. We will learn how to "find your groove" and have fun moving your body! We teach all of the basic dance skills like keeping rhythm, following choreography and developing body control, as well as performance skills such as stage presence, taught through kid-friendly Hip-Hop. Students will perform 1 dance in the recital.

Jazz class focuses on style, musicality, and correct alignment. Each class includes a technical warmup to find your center and floor work for strength and injury prevention. Students will perform a dance in the end-of-year recital. This tap class is open to all students 12+ yrs old.

Dancers will perform up to 2 dances at the end-of-year recital and will feature the moves/steps, technique, and choreography they learned throughout the year.

Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Students will perform a dance in the end-of-year recital. This tap class is open to all students 12+ yrs old.

Students in Tumbling 2 will master both side cartwheels, round offs, elbow cartwheels, front walkovers, back walkovers, beginning aerials, and beginning acro.

Advanced Hip-Hop
Students are REQUIRED to have a basic understanding of several street styles, feel comfortable with freestyle dancing in the cypher, and should be actively creating their own dances/moves. Students should be somewhat knowledgeable of hip-hop history and different genres of music. Students will be learning variations, urban dance choreography, musicality, and challenging floorwork. Students perform 2 dances in the end-of-year recital.

In this class, students will learn the history of hip-hop as well as explore creative variations of the basics in order to unlock personal style and flavor. Students perform 2 dances in the end-of-year recital.

Class emphasizes performance and artistry. All dancers placed in Ballet 9 may automatically take pointe if they are 12+ and have had at least two years of ballet training. Students will perform 1 or 2 dances in the end-of-year recital. Required for Ciel company.

For ages 12+. An intermediate class focused-on furthering technical strength and skill in pre pointe and beginning barre pointe work. Ballet 8 works on basic pointe technique. Pointe concepts and exercises are taught slowly, facing the barre. Later, as stability and strength improve, similar exercises are executed in the center. Students have knowledge in basic ballet terminology and port de bra, with development in epaulement. This class is open to all intermediate ballet sudents; required for Soleil company.

This class is a step up from beginning Hip-Hop and is designed for kids 12-14 yrs. You should be somewhat familiar with various street styles not to exclude popping, breaking (stalls, freezes, etc.), 90's MTV moves, etc. In Hip-Hop 3, students will learn movements and techniques with names, basic freestyle concepts, and choreography to tie it all together! Students will perform 2 dances in the end-of-year recital.

Introduction to basic ballet terminology, port de bras, and body positions. Students will perform a dance in the end-of-year recital. The turns portion of this class is open to all students; required for Esprit Company. This class will learn one dance.
