Intermediate Ballet (ages 10-14)
This class is for dancers who have had at least 2+ years of ballet training. This level focuses on the expansion of fundamental classical ballet steps and terminology with a focus on strength and flexibility. Special emphasis will be placed on musicality and coordination, as well as building technique in the center with adagio, pirouettes, and allegro. Two ballet classes in addition to at least one Intermediate Pre-Pointe class a week is highly recommended.

Creative Movement Ages 2.5-4
This class is designed with the very young dancer in mind. Students must be 2.5 by the date of registration. This class stresses natural dance movement, including stretching, music appreciation coordination in a creative way. In a stimulating environment, the class focuses on an intro to ballet technique, creativity and imagination, group interaction, and the joy of self-expression. Tap, Ages 6-9
This class is designed to be a beginning-level class where the dancer will learn the basic principles and fundamentals of Tap. The class' focus is built upon coordination, rhythms, and syncopation with an emphasis on musicality and self-expression.

This class is an extension of the introduction to the art of Classical Ballet, including barre, center, and stretch exercises. Some previous training is required.

Ballet/Tap/Hip Hop Sampler, Ages 4-6
This class is designed according to age-level to introduce your child to a variety of dance styles and techniques. Classical ballet- to learn the language of dance, work on refining basic locomotive skills, and encouraging self-expression through movement; Tap- learning basic coordination skills and working on putting combinations to different rhythms of music and hip-hop to cultivate a versatile performer. This class will increase your child's dancing ability in these dance styles and focuses on group interaction and the joy of movement and self-expression.

This class will be off on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in observance of Independence Day.

Adaptive Dance: Movement Exploration and Ballet Fundamentals (Ages 13+)
The Ballet Theatre of Maryland believes in providing everyone with access and opportunity to explore movement and dance. Our Adaptive Dance Program is an inclusive class that specializes in meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities. This class promotes self-expression, enhances spatial awareness, improves motor skills and coordination, and fosters cooperation and collaboration all while building a strong community. Students can expect to explore creative movement and learn the fundamentals of Classical Ballet. At the start of the first class, parents/caretakers will have the opportunity to disclose information to the instructor about the student's disabilities/specific needs as a form of awareness to cater best to each student. Students should wear comfortable clothing/athletic wear (i.e., pants, shorts, or skirts, and shirts easy can move in) or ballet attire with socks and/or ballet slippers.

Jazz/Hip Hop Ages 7-11
Ballet- This class is the beginning of formalized classical ballet including barre, center, and stretching exercises. Musicality, coordination, and movement dynamics are concentrated on to help the dancer create a strong foundation for dance.
Hip Hop- This class provides a fun-filled, high-energy environment designed to teach dancers fundamental Jazz and Hip-Hop techniques and vocabulary. A focus on musicality, strengthening, and stretching is emphasized to help create a well-rounded dancer.

This class will be off Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
