Ignite Team
Our Ignite Team is an opportunity for any TDC dancer taking 2 or more classes ages 6+ to experience the excitement of competing at a local competition (within 1 hour of Beausejour)! This program allows dancers to work in solos, duets, trios, or small groups, giving them personalized training and a chance to shine in a competitive environment.

How It Works

To join the Ignite Team, dancers will:
✅ Fill out an application form and pay the initial $60 payment by May 15, 2026
✅ Attend a placement class in June

What Happens at the Placement Class?
At the placement class, dancers will showcase their skills so we can cast solos, duets, trios, or small groups that are a great fit for them. This ensures that every dancer gets the best possible experience, with choreography, music and other dancers that suit their strengths and challenge them to be the best they can be.

Choreography Sessions & Cleaning Rehearsals
Ignite Team members will have:
✨Choreography sessions in August & September to learn their numbers (these will be scheduled based on dancer, choreographer and studio availability)
-Solos will have 3 hours to learn the choreography
-Duets & trios will have 4 hours to learn the choreography
-Small Groups will have 5 hours to learn the choreography
✨ 4 group cleaning sessions with other Ignite solos, duets, trios, and small groups of similar levels.
✨ Open Studio Time before competition to independently practice in a quiet, dedicated space.

In this three year training program our apprentices will learn classroom management skills, childhood development stages, child behaviour management skills, how to create lesson plans, how to choreograph dances, how to progress dancers in their training from creative movement to pre-professional and so much more! Graduating apprentices will have all the knowledge and skills needed to confidently teach classes on their own not only at TDC but anywhere their life leads them. They will also gain priceless life skills such as adaptability, time management, teaching skills, responsibility, confidence, leadership skills and more! Ecole Edward Schreyer School students will also have the ability to gain up to 3 high school credits upon completion of the program.

Our apprentice program students will have a 60 minute in class session twice each month from August - June and will be assigned a minimum of 2 hours of foundational or preschool program class at TDC to teach alongside a TDC faculty member.

All apprentices must be going into Grade 7 or above as of September 1, 2025. Anyone who wishes to join the apprentice program must submit an application and resume, they will also be interviewed. To be eligible to apply the applicant must have 1 years experience as an assistant. Apprentices are also required to be registered in 2 dance classes at TDC, one of those classes must be jazz, tap, or ballet.

The application, resume, and interview are meant to be learning experiences for future jobs and careers. We understand this will probably be one of their first resumes and interviews, we are here to help guide them through the process. It's a great opportunity to learn!

Associate Apprentice Program
What is the TDC Associate Apprentice Program?

Not everyone wants or is ready to be a dance teacher for their own classes, but the Associate Apprentice Program offers the perfect alternative to grow your skills and passion! This program is for students who have successfully completed all 3 years of the Apprentice Program and wish to keep working with students and have more of a leadership role.

By joining the program, you will continue to serve as an assistant, yet with an enhanced role where you'll have the opportunity to refine your areas of growth while simultaneously sharing your expertise. This dual focus will not only allow you to strengthen your own capabilities but also position you to guide and inspire fellow assistants and apprentices, fostering leadership from within. Select students will have the opportunity to be placed on a substitute teaching list if interested and selected. We’d be happy to serve as references on your future resumes as well!

Our Associate Apprentice Program students will have a personalized schedule of 60 minute meetings to attend, targeting areas of growth. And will be assigned a minimum of 2 hours of foundational or preschool program classes at TDC to assist alongside a TDC faculty member weekly.
Associate Apprentice Program Requirements

All associates must have successfully completed each year of the Apprentice Program. Anyone who wishes to join the Associate Apprentice Program can register online before May 21. Dance Buddies
The TDC Dance Buddies Program is a special mentorship experience that pairs an older dancer with a younger dancer for a season filled with friendship, encouragement, and fun!

Throughout the year, buddies will meet once a month to participate in exciting activities, games, and team-building experiences designed to help them build confidence and lasting connections within our studio community. Think friendship bracelet making, making sweet valentines day treat, planting flowers together and more! Our older dancers will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills while serving as positive role models, and our younger dancers will enjoy having a supportive mentor cheering them on every step of the way.

Each buddy pair will also learn a special dance together to perform at both our Mid-Season Showcase and Year-End Recital, creating memories they'll cherish for years to come.

At TDC, we believe dance is about more than learning steps—it's about building confidence, creating friendships, and becoming part of a community. The TDC Dance Buddies Program is the perfect way to make every dancer feel seen, supported, and connected.
