Lighting Design Workshop
Lighting Tech & Equipment Basics
This technical workshop focuses on the hardware and backstage setup of theatrical lighting. Students will learn how to identify different types of lighting instruments, hang and focus them safely, and understand cabling, dimmers, and basic power management.
▸ A strong starting point for future tech directors, electricians, or anyone interested in what powers the stage from above.

Lighting Design
This workshop dives into the artistic side of lighting—teaching students how to use light to shape mood, focus, and storytelling in live performance. Campers will explore color theory, lighting angles, texture, and intensity to create emotional environments and visual effects. They’ll even mock up light plots and design scenes based on real scripts.
▸ Perfect for creative minds who want to paint the stage with color and feeling.

Lighting Operations
Students in this workshop will learn how to run a lighting system during a show—from loading and programming cues into a board, to understanding how to follow a cue sheet and work with a stage manager. Participants will get hands-on experience with real equipment and practice in timing, transitions, and troubleshooting.
▸ Great for students who enjoy precision, tech, and being in control of the spotlight—literally.
