PRESCHOOL Movement (Monday)
This class will focus on creative movement and fun with music. Dancers will learn basic class fundamentals including taking directions such as sitting in a circle, travelling across the floor and waiting their turn. This class will introduce basic tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop styles. This class is geared toward brand new dancers age 2-3, but may also be good fit for a 4 year old who is on the shy side.

This class will require one new costume, info to be sent home later in the year.

MINI Level 1 (Monday)
This class will introduce dancers to ballet, jazz and tap dance styles. Students will learn to dance at a barre as well as begin to practice routines to perform from their own memory. Although this class is geared toward a more formal structure there will also be movement games incorporated as well. This class is geared toward new dancers in preprimary, primary and grade one.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition. This class will enter one routine.

This class will require one new costume, info to be sent home later in the year.

MINI Musical Theatre
Acting, vocals and broadway jazz movement techniques are brought together and performed to songs from popular musicals.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in AT LEAST ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

This class will require one new costume, info to be sent home later in the year.

MINI/JUNIOR Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

Costume wise this class will be using last year's lilac dress.

SENIOR Jazz
Strength, flexibility, and coordination is developed in jazz dance. The infectious, high-energy rhythmic music of a jazz dance class leads to increased endurance and stamina.
Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in AT LEAST ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

Costume info to be sent home later in the year.

SENIOR Contemporary
Contemporary dance combines ballet, with elements of modern dance, focusing on the contract and release of the body, and the unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in AT LEAST ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

Costume will be decided at a later date.

This class will review and then build upon the basic tap, jazz and ballet steps previously learned. The dancers will continue to work on dancing at the barre, across the floor work and remembering choreography on their own while still playing a movement based game on occasion. This class is for returning students and would also be a good fit for new dancers in grade primary.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition. This class will enter two routines.

This class will be reusing the yellow and fushia multi piece costume from last year. There will be an opportunity to order larger ones if needed.

MINI Hip Hop
Often hip hop is referred to as a street style of dance. Improvisation and personal interpretation are essential to hip-hop dancing. It is a less technical and high energy style of dance that is often done in street clothes and sneakers.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition. This class will enter one routine.

This class will require one new costume, info to be sent home later in the year.

MINI Level 3
This class will review and then build upon the basic tap, jazz and ballet steps previously learned. The dancers will continue to work on dancing at the barre, across the floor work and remembering choreography on their own while still playing a movement based game on occasion. This class is for returning students and would also be a good fit for new dancers in grade two and three.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter three routines.

Costumes for this class will be last year's black unitard and will also plan to add one new multi piece costume with an approximate cost of $100.

JUNIOR Tap, Jazz and Ballet
This class will be tailored to younger dancers who have mastered the basics with IMPACT Dance over the past few years and are ready for a bit of a challenge. Older beginners are welcome as well, we will be reviewing and reinforcing all the basics. This class will cover ballet, tap and jazz.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter three routines, one for each jazz, tap and ballet.

Costumes for this class will be determined at a later date.

SENIOR Ballet
Ballet is a theatrical dance that features highly formalized steps and movements. It uses body movements, music, and stage scenery to speak emotions, a story, an atmosphere, or a theme. The first half of the class will focus on pre-pointe and pointe strengthening and technique with the second half focused on choreography.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

This class will be purchasing a new costume, info on cost will be sent home later in the year.

Tap focuses on rhythms and patterns in footwork through proper technique, as well as personal style and producing clear sounds. Classes include a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. These classes are for dancers who like rhythm, precision footwork, and creative styling.

Dancers will be offered the OPTION to participate in AT LEAST ONE local competition and ONE travel competition. This class will enter one routine.

Intro to Acro class in which dancers will learn safe practices for basic acro skills including forward rolls, cartwheels and bridges. Proper jazz technique, body positioning and flexibility will also be explored.

TIME RECEIVED: Three hours with the choreographer. If your child requires additional time with the choreographeir the fee is $60 per hour. If you want extra rehearsal time the fee is $45 an hour which includes a teacher assistant plus studio space.

MUSIC: You may bring in your own music, but it must suit age, dance type and dance ability. We reserve the right to make the final decision.

COSTUME: You will need an extra costume for this routine. We do have access to some rental costumes available, however if you are interested in ordering from a costume book you should order as soon as possible.

COMPETITION(S): You will have the opportunity to perform this routine in any dance competition that IMPACT Dance is participating in.

CATEGORIES: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Lyrical and HipHop. You must be taking class in the chosen discipline for the solo.

LENGTH: All solos, duos etc. are approximately 2:00-3:00 minutes long.

These extra routines can be very fun and rewarding for the dancers however they do require a large amount of work and commitment from both the dancers as well as the parents (especially for younger dancers).   

Duos, trios etc can be less daunting for dancers however keep in mind you will need to be able to get those dancers together to practice as well as on their own.  Scheduling can be tricky. 

Dancers will receive two sessions with their choreographer.  After this point it is the dancer’s and parents responsibility to rehearse and memorize the routine.  Dancers will have rehearsal time with teachers however this will be for “cleaning” the routine.
