Ballet Prep 1 (Burgundy)
Preparatory Ballet students will explore and perform dance movements, using the skills, vocabulary, and language of dance. Students will continue on developing the fundamental basics of the classical ballet. Attention will be given to important stretching exercises for specific muscle groups, which will be taught and practiced regularly. Beginner ballet technique and more of the terminology will be introduced. Gradually introduced to the ballet barre, the young students will work on correct body placement, balance, and proper use of arms.

Key elements of classical ballet are beauty and elegance, and White Swan Academy teachers will focus on getting students to bring out these qualities in their dancing. Preparatory Ballet will learn proper ballet class etiquette, as well as develop their listening skills, and ability to follow instructions.

Ballet/Tap 1 (White)
Primary Ballet includes growth in storytelling, creativity, and musicality while building on the fundamentals of dance. In a playful way we introduce ballet steps such as plie and tendu for the first time, and students can master laterality (right versus left), as well as other elements of spatial awareness. With simple tap steps together we explore the relationship between music and dance and develop your child's musicality. Introduction to the simplest Tap steps are included in this curriculum.

Ballet Elementary A (Lavender)
Ballet Elementary Technique class designed for students age 9+ with some prior ballet experience, or by teachers evaluation. Students will continue to strengthen and refine their technique, built upon learning solid placement and consistent work habits. Class will include a range of barre exercises with emphasis on alignment. Center work will focus on the development of stability and body coordination. Students will continue building clean technical habits and movement clarity in Allegro. Linking and transitional steps as well as diagonals and circles will be further developed and refined. Students will be challenged with increased complexity as they advance and their confidence in using the physical mechanics will gradually build up. This level requires to take two ballet classes weekly.

Ballet Elementary B (Lavender)
Elementary Ballet (B) class will target the highly motivated, focused, and skilled 10-13 years old dance students who want to broaden and improve their technique, and performance experience.

Class includes warm-up, complete barre work, center and across the floor combinations for the purpose of developing strength, flexibility, coordination and correct body alignment. Exercises designed to improve accuracy, speed and the ability to link movements will be taught. Great attention will be paid to the area of complex ballet turns, including pirouettes, movements in diagonals and circles.

Ballet Advanced (Black)
Advanced Ballet class is reserved for seriously minded students with several years of ballet training, who have successfully mastered the fundamentals and intermediate steps. This is a fast-paced technique class providing necessary physical challenges to improve stamina and to develop–quickly and efficiently–a higher degree of artistry. Significant increase in dedication, self-discipline, and time commitment are expected. Age 14+ and instructors evaluation is required.

Advanced Ballet students will learn to move in a big way, dancing over the individual steps and musical phrases in a continuous movement. They will work on achieving total stability and great strength. By the end of the year students will be able to deftly maneuver their bodies featuring high jumps and turns that will appear light and effortless. Teaching will focus on polishing up the nuances of complex pirouettes, and on bringing to perfection many more adagios, allegros, and other strong work exercises.

In White Swan Academy's jazz class dancers learn funky age appropriate routines with a technical focus. Jazz is a great free movement class for dancers after a ballet class and builds dancer presence, awareness and confidence. It covers a wide range of dance styles from that seen in musicals to modern contemporary and hip-hop interpretations.
