PIANO with Aglaia Lessard
As a teacher, Aglaia is here to facilitate independent musicianship and consistent progress, as these are great indicators of whether students play for a year or a lifetime. She is of the belief that anyone can learn to play piano if they are curious about patterns, dedicated to practice, and willing to share their personal experience of the music. Songs can be both individually impactful and collectively engaging. Together, the goal will be to convey the message and the character intended by the composer in a way that touches the audience with a fresh perspective.

Beginner through Intermediate students will become familiar with their instrument using the Piano Adventures Series. Technique, notation, sightreading, theory, interpretation, and performance skills are sequentially introduced through these fun and integrated lessons.

Advanced players will move into the wider piano repertoire, understanding the work of major composers and learning to emulate the character of each time period. Knowledge of scales and chords is increasingly emphasized, along with the technique necessary for agility and expression.

All students are encouraged to share their personal favourites from any genre, and will gradually be exposed to chording and lead sheets as they learn to play what they love.

30-minute weekly private lesson ($38.50 per week). NOTE: If you prefer one hour of instruction, please register for two back-to-back time slots.

GUITAR or DRUMS with Jeremiah Spears
Every student’s musical journey is different! Thus, this curriculum is more of a loose overview of what, in my years of experience, is generally achieved or is considered a goal at each “level” of proficiency rather than a one-to-one guide of how a student must develop in every case. The student is not expected to progress through these sections in a linear progression; jumping from section to section is encouraged! Some section examples are: learning musical terms and concepts (eg, tempo, chords, harmony, melody, treble, bass, bars, time signatures, etc.), basic musical structures, building musical vocabulary, understanding, and proficiency, alongside active listening/ ear training, and music composition.

The many milestones in this curriculum are taught through building repertoire. We believe that learning songs – rather than repetitive exercises or drills – best develops musical skill and musical intuition.

VOCAL with Aglaia Lessard
As a voice teacher, Aglaia's primary goal in working with singers of all ages and abilities is to ensure good breath control and resonance. From this basis, ease of projection begins, range expands, and enunciation can begin to be addressed. Taking time with our warm-ups increases confidence and releases tension. Students are then able to pursue a variety of vocal goals, depending on the trajectory they choose to take.

Opera, pop, rock, contemporary Christian or musical theatre - each genre offers its own challenges. Singers are exposed to new words and languages, access registers previously thought unattainable, read the shape and character of vocal lines, and learn to convey nuances they've heard in recordings. Since the nature of each voice is highly personal, singing together in a private lesson and discussing previous experience helps in choosing individual materials and finding an age- and ability-appropriate path forward.

PIANO with Andrea Perrin
As a piano teacher, Andrea’s goal is to foster an appreciation and enjoyment of music. Through her classes, she will aim to facilitate consistent progress, development of musical
knowledge and skill, and confidence within her students. She believes that the ability to play an instrument can provide an individual with a fulfilling, creative outlet that can provide enjoyment to the individual alone and when shared with others through performance.

Beginner to Intermediate level students will start with the Piano Adventure Series. This will provide a progressive introduction to notation, technique, sightreading, theory,
expression, and performance. As students progress, a broader repertoire will be introduced to expose students to the major composers and other musical genres that led to the
development of music as we know it today. The emphasis on development of agility and technique, as well as an understanding of musical theory will also increase.

Students will be encouraged to expand their repertoire by bringing pieces of their personal interest. Together, the ultimate goal is for students to develop a passion for playing
music and a willingness to challenge themselves to learn in a positive environment!

30-minute weekly private lesson ($38.50 per week). If you prefer one hour of instruction, please register for two back-to-back time slots.
$50 materials fee at time of registration.

VOCAL with Aglaia Lessard
