Tap is a dance style in which the rhythm is audibly tapped out to created an added layer of percussion with the toe or heel by a dancer wearing shoes with metal taps.
Knee, ankle and foot articulation, coordination and speed of movement are developed and refined as dancers progress through our Tap levels. Instructors will place an emphasis on proper technique, rhythm, coordination, and musicality.

Jazz will explore all styles of jazz dancing. Class will start will a warm up including stretching and strengthening exercises. Students will the. Work on their technique with center exercises as well as across the floor progressions. Class will end with choreography. This class is an open level. Each student will be challenged to their personal ability.

Hip hop is one of the most popular dance styles. In this class students will learn the basic style including isolations, technique, progressive movement and choreography. Class will start with. Ballet
Ballet gives dancers a solid foundation of technique which leads to success in other styles of dance. It improves your posture, strength, flexibility, and musicality. Ballet teaches work ethic, dedication, stamina.
Class will start at the barre, then skills across the floor ending with center work. Students will learn skills along with terminology. .
Dress code: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers

Tumble Tots
Tumble tots will work on strengthening, stretching and coordination while learning basic tumbling skill that are used in dance, gymnastic and cheer! This is a 45 min class and runs for 5 weeks.
Students should wear a leotard and pants, footless tights or shorts.

Creative Movement
Students will explore the basics of ballet through creative movement activities. They will also strengthen their gross motor skill and body awareness.

Acro is the fusion of classic dance technique with the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. This class teaches flexibility, balance and strength through conditioning exercises. Acro dancers use this strength and flexibility to seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, lines and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.
Each level will build off the skills that the dancers have already mastered.
Dress code: Tight clothes so teachers can spot. Barefeet.

Contemporary incorporates different genres of dance to create its own unique style.
Contemporary dances usually follow a story line or an emotion. The class with a technical warn up which includes strengthening and stretching. The students will then practice skills by going across the floor. The class may end with choreography.

Lyrical
Lyricalw dance utilizes techniques from both ballet and jazz to create an emotional and expressive dance that is meant to relate to the lyrics of the songs being dance to. During a lyrical dance dancers will use their body language and facial expressions to show emotions, including anger, heart, sadness, joy, love, etc. This beautiful dance style is often used as a method of storytelling and creates a connection with the audience many people love watching lyrical dance because they are relatable.

Turns and Jumps
This class focuses on building strong technical skills in turns, jumps, and leaps used across many dance styles. Dancers will work on proper body alignment, spotting, balance, and control to improve pirouettes and other turning combinations. The class will also develop elevation, power, and safe landing techniques for jumps and leaps. Strengthening exercises and across-the-floor combinations help dancers gain confidence, precision, and flexibility while improving overall dance technique. This class is a great supplement for dancers looking to strengthen their performance and technical ability in jazz, lyrical, and contemporary dance.

Bring your favorite American Girl Doll (or any doll) to tea at the Carver Dance Center. We will be crafting outfits and teacups as well as decorating cupcakes. After lunch, we will have a dance party and finish with tea and cake.

Disney multi day dance camp
During this multi day dance camp we will do crafts inspired by different Disney movies like Zootopia and Lilo and Stitch. We will also learn a dance each day which we will put together into a short performance on the last day of camp.
