APRIL BREAK 2025 - Pop Goes Broadway!
Seeking lovers of Pop and Musical Theatre! In this 1 week workshop we will take favorite radio hits of artists like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift and perform them with a Musical Theatre flair.
The similarities in pop concert performance and contemporary musical theatre are blending more and more, and in this workshop we will explore, celebrate, and play where these styles of performance art meet.
Each day will be filled with learning vocals and choreography for contemporary pop songs remixed and staged for performance in contemporary musical theatre. We’ll create our own showcase to be performed on Friday at the end of the week while building self-confidence on stage, digging into acting while singing/dancing, and expressing yourself through performance.
This workshop is a full-day program, 9am - 3pm. We will have a lunch break outside at Polaski Park (weather and crowds permitting). Participants bring a cold lunch from home. Food is NOT provided by the Academy of Music.

Auditioning For Musical Theatre - Summer 2025
The Auditioning for Musical Theatre Intensive is for the active performer who is driven to push their musical theatre audition skills. In this intensive, each participant will prepare a 1-minute audition cut of a song of their choosing. They will receive direct coaching and feedback on their song and performance of the piece from both instructors, and they will learn how to give and receive thoughtful and constructive feedback with peers throughout the week. There will be group discussions on how to prepare for a musical theatre audition, and participate in “mock auditions” to experience dance calls, vocal callbacks, and other parts of the audition process in a safe space for hands-on learning. This is all in addition to group technical instruction in dance, vocals, and acting for musical theatre. The group numbers and 1-minute audition cuts will be performed in a showcase at the end of the week on the Academy stage.
**The Audition for Musical Theatre Intensive varies from the other summer workshops and students ages 13+ can register to participate in both Encore! and the Musical Theatre Audition Intensive.**
