Jazz dance is a uniquely American art form. A variety of styles will be taught from primitive to the classic jazz style. This class concentrates on proper technique, placement, strength, and style as well as increasing flexibility and muscle tone. Musical Theatre is a form of jazz dance combining music, stylized choreography and lots of personality! Dancers will have the opportunity to learn movement and history from many different Broadway shows and musicals, both past and present. Technique and style are important elements in this dance class as students are exposed to the next level by layering in detail and creating a story to go along with the movement.

Ballet requires strength and patience because of its difficult technical elements. Taking years to develop, the body is set in various positions and poses which require flexibility in the back, legs, rib cage, and feet. Dedication to study over an extended period of time will increase fluidity, grace, and technique among other important elements of dance. Body placement, flexibility, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work.

Tumble Bugs - No Recital
This class is designed to introduce the world of Acro to our littlest dancers! Acro is very similar to gymnastics, but focuses on the floor portion of gymnastics only. Each class will incorporate stretching to help with flexibility, as well as strengthening. This is a 45 minute class held each week. This class will not perform in the recital. We allow 1 guardian to wait in the back lobby and observe the class by watching the TV feed provided.

Acro 2 (Thurs) - NO RECITAL
Acro is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment. Also referred to as floor gymnastics, common moves performed in this tumbling class include, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, rolls, flips, somersaults, tucks, handstands and handsprings. This class does not perform in the recital. Skills Needed: All skills from Intro to Acro, plus Backbend from standing, One Handed Kartwheel (one side with proper mechanics: landing on feet, strong arms, etc.) Skills to be taught: Roundoffs, Walkovers, and more complex tricks.

The class will finish with a fun choreography section where dancers combine their new jumping skills into a dynamic space-inspired combo. Each day, dancers will flutter into a fairy tale adventure where they will learn princess dances, play whimsical games, listen to storybook tales, enjoy sweet snacks, and create charming crafts to treasure. As the grand finale to their magical week, our Ballerina Princesses will invite their parent or guardian to our Royal Ball: a celebration fit for a castle. On the final day of camp, our ballerinas are invited to arrive dressed in their favorite princess gowns for an extra sprinkle of magic. They will even have the chance to meet a real royal princess and pose for a treasured photo together — it’s a camp you won’t want to miss!

Students will continue to build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while exploring more challenging skills such as tucks, handstands with control, cartwheel variations, rolls, and beginner handsprings.

Through fun progressions and focused instruction, dancers will gain confidence, precision, and body awareness while learning how to safely combine skills into short sequences. This lively and encouraging class helps students develop the foundation and technique needed to advance to even higher-level acro while having a blast in every class!
