Fall/Spring 2025-26
Toddler Combo (Ballet/Tap) - age 2-3
This class occurs at Fair Haven Day School for their toddler students.
This class is for little ones who are eager to begin dance classes and ready to learn independently. This class engages toddlers at their level to introduce them to concepts of dance in an inviting and encouraging manner. Similar to our Mommy and Me Pre-ballet curriculum in the beginning of the season, we use song stories to introduce movement concepts to young bodies that are still grasping basic motor skills. As we progress during the year, we will modify the course to mirror more of the preschool ballet/tap curriculum, learning all ballet positions, teaching combinations, and other basic ballet positions and movement skills. They will learn ballet positions, plies, tendus, ballet walks, passe, taps, stomps, ball change, shuffle and more.

This class is primarily for students with ~3 years or more previous ballet experience and preferably those who took ballet 3 last year at minimum. Knowledge of ballet positions, tendus, plies, soute's, 3 step turns, chaines, passe, arabesque, and how to work from front, side, back is required. At MNDA, Intermediate levels take a while to transition into and even if you are an intermediate level in knowledge of steps, your execution may need a little more time to develop and we will recommend this class for that purpose. Our goal is to create the proper alignment, use of muscles, and strength to set all of our dancers up for success and to be able to one day dance en pointe if they so desire.

This class helps to develop and strengthen the dance muscles. We leverage yoga blocks, balls, bands, and other measures to attain optimal isolation of the muscles and the mildest yet sustained stretches for developing lean but tone muscles.

Beginning Hip-hop/Jazz Fusion 1 (age 5-8)
Hip-hop/jazz fusion class provides concepts that cross both genres melding in a style that emulates what kids see on Disney channel, kids bop, and other mainstream dance media. Stretch & Strengthening (ages 6-8)
This class helps to develop and strengthen the dance muscles. For example, we strengthen our feet for pointed toes and sustained forced arches, we isolate and tone our hamstrings and abductors for turns, kicks, and balance, we strengthen our core for control of movement, we work on flexibility for leaps and jumps. We leverage yoga blocks, balls, bands, and other measures to attain optimal isolation of the muscles and the mildest yet sustained stretches for developing lean but tone muscles.

Beginning Ballet 3rd-5th
This class is only for students who attend Westwood Elementary School.
This class works best for the young dancer who have had some previous exposure to ballet or who are naturally athletic or graceful. While we know that we may still be teaching brand new things to beginners, we continue to develop proper technique and alignment within those movements for dancers who already know the steps. Ballet is something that takes years to master and we can always learn how to execute with a higher quality. In this class, we will review and learn the five ballet positions, alignment, ballet etiquette, and formations. Students will learn how to balance better, execute basic movements in various ways such as souté passe and souté arabesque, fully turn out and extend in tendu and degage, ron de jambe, grand battement, coupe, and more. By learning how to shift their weight between movements, dancers will begin to be able to leap and execute pique passe or pique arabesques. Chaine's and 3-step turns will continue to be our focus for turns in addition to fourth position preparations to a passe en releve. Some students may even be practicing pirhouettes by the end of the season. This class will work on leaps and various allegro movements. We begin with soutés, echappés and changements and our goal is to learn jumps such as jetes, assembles, pas de chat, and glissade. Dancers will build muscle memory for transitions between sequenced steps. Students will learn dance combinations throughout the year which will improve their memorization and chronological ordering skills. Students will work with others in their class to artfully present movement in different formations using their spatial awareness of themselves and others.
