Ballet
Ballet RAD, IPATH Grades

This Ballet class is suitable for students aged 7 and above. By this stage, students are expected to have completed a year of Ballet transition from Primary to Grade 1 and will be approaching the stage where they can take their Grade 1 ballet exam, should they wish to do so.

Exams and Progression
Exams are not compulsory, and many children decide to move up without taking them. However, at Dance Associate, we like to offer the option of ballet exams to those pupils who are keen to focus on perfecting the syllabus. We believe that studying towards exams is beneficial for youngsters as it encourages them to practise, perfect their steps, and work towards achieving a goal.

RAD Grades and Equivalency
RAD Grades 1-3 constitute Level 1 of the RAD’s Graded syllabus and are equivalent to GCSE Grades D-G (NVQ level 1). These grades promote a "feeling before form" approach, where children are encouraged to explore new sensations of spinning, leaping, and balancing. Musically inspired exercises motivate students to acquire a well-rounded understanding of ballet and character, promoting joy in movement, a sense of dance, and performance quality.

Musical Inspiration
The music for Grades 1-3 is a glorious collection of three centuries of dance music, enhancing the learning experience and inspiring students.

Benefits of Ballet
Self-Discipline and Expression: Ballet encourages self-discipline and self-expression, helping students develop listening skills and follow instructions.
Individual and Group Work: Students learn to work both as individuals and in groups, fostering teamwork and cooperation.
Physical Development: Ballet improves coordination, good posture, strength, and suppleness.
Artistry and Musical Appreciation: The class provides a nurturing environment for the development of artistry and musical appreciation.
Our RAD and IPATH Ballet classes offer a comprehensive ballet education, nurturing both the technical skills and the artistic development of each student. Join us and watch your child grow into a confident and expressive dancer.

It is also a very precise dance with the dancer’s movements portraying the emotion and story of the song.

Ballet Tinies & Minis
Primary Ballet Class

Our ballet classes form the heart of our dance school, and teaching the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and IPATH syllabus has been Victoria's passion for many years. We offer ballet classes for children from age 4, progressing all the way to professional standards. Ballet helps develop stamina, posture, fluidity, and grace, and can be started with no prior experience.

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and IPATH
The RAD syllabus is recognised on the National Framework, with qualifications equivalent to GCSE and A-Level, earning UCAS points. The iPath method complements this by offering innovative, structured dance education. We are dedicated to teaching both the RAD Ballet syllabus and the iPath method, ensuring high-quality instruction and a comprehensive understanding of ballet techniques.

Class Structure
Pre-School Ballet: Taught in a fun and engaging manner, our pre-school ballet classes promote a love and interest in ballet, incorporating all the basic movement skills.
Graded Work: As students progress, they move into graded work where all instructions are given in French, following the RAD global standard. This allows students to join any RAD class around the world seamlessly.

Why Choose Our Ballet Classes?
Passionate Instruction: Our instructors are passionate about teaching and are committed to each student's growth and development.
Supportive Environment: We offer inclusive ballet classes with plenty of opportunities for students to grow and develop their skills.
Long-Term Engagement: Many of our students stay with us for years, enjoying the supportive and enriching environment we provide.

Benefits of Ballet
Foundation for Other Dance Forms: Ballet is the base for many other forms of dance, making it a popular starting point for various dance disciplines.
Physical and Artistic Development: Ballet teaches grace, poise, and posture, while also helping students develop interpersonal skills through interactions with their peers.
Confidence and Satisfaction: Learning new steps and routines, and working towards exams and performances, gives students a sense of satisfaction, self-belief, and confidence.

Breakdance/B-boying/Breaking Class
Breakdancing, also known as B-boying or Breaking, is a style of street dance that originated among Black youths in New York City during the early 1970s. This dance style has gained global popularity, particularly in regions such as South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, and Japan.

Breakdancing is diverse and includes four main types of movement: top rock, down rock, power moves, and freezes. This dance style is typically performed to hip-hop, funk music, and especially breakbeats, though modern trends allow for a wider variety of music with different tempos and beat patterns.

A practitioner of this dance is called a b-boy, b-girl, or breaker. Although the term “breakdance” is commonly used, “b-boying” and “breaking” are the original terms, preferred by the pioneers and most notable practitioners of the style.
