For any students ages 5 and 6.
Students learn basic ballet positions and movements. They develop their gross motor skills through locomotor movements (walking, skipping, running, and jumping) and their fine motor skills by holding and maneuvering props. Rhythm and musicality are also elements of this class. Students learn basic topics of the history of ballet and get familiar with ballet terminology, as well as traditional composers and choreographers.

Contemporary 3 Pre-Professional Program
Enrollment by placement only.
Genre of dance performance that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. Its style combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet.
This class is for students that have at least three years of ballet training, at a rate of 4 1/2 hours per week.
Enrollment in our Pre-Professional Ballet Program classes required.

Character Dance Ages 7-12
Character dance is a stylized theatrical representation of traditional national and folk dances. As an integral subdivision of classical ballet, it adapts regional dances (like the Hungarian czardas, Spanish flamenco, and Russian mazurka) for the stage by combining classical ballet technique with authentic folk rhythms, pantomime, and expressive storytelling.
In this introductory level dance class, children are introduced to basic elements of Character Dance.

Ideal for students that have taken classes in the Ballet Dark Blue level and prefer to extend their training in the children's program before joining the pre professional program.
This class also fits students ages 11 or older, without previous ballet training or with previous ballet training, wishing to continue to train once per week.

Conditioning Pre-Professional Program

At least one year of ballet experience, at a rate of 4 to 5 hours of classes per week required.
Conditioning class designed specifically for students enrolled in our Pre-Professional program, to help them with strength, flexibility and injury prevention.
An intensive series of complex stretch and strengthening exercises targeting corps and back
muscles, foot articulation, turn-out and flexibility to facilitate dancers’ stability, precision,
balance, coordination and breathing when performing barre, center and pointe work. With an
agile tempo approach adaptable to dancers’ levels of proficiency, the class works on
abdominals, inner thighs, calves, pelvic muscles, lower and upper back muscles, obliques,
hamstrings, glutes, ankle strength, back and leg flexibility. The class is designed to complement
dancers’ training and accelerate progress in technique and execution through an intense, all-
around body conditioning.
