In 5th and 6th grade, we will use a variety of curriculum to focus on character building and keeping God at the center of our learning.
We will have a strong focus on academics including math, science, history, geography, literature, grammar, and spelling.

We will be using Saxon for math, and if you do not want to personally grade your child's answers (need to purchase teacher's guide if you do) but still desire the extra accountability, the child will need access to a computer to enter their answers on mymathassistant.com to get it graded. It is $5 a month. They can input their answers on a home computer and will not need access to one at school. I will teach them how to organize it so it is simple to put the answers in once they arrive home.

We will be focusing on the US Constitution and Government using the Good and the Beautiful for the basis of our curriculum. We will memorize a portion of the Preamble and have a grasp on the Amendments, and how our government is run. We will go over states, capitals, and map blobbing as well.
For science we will be using The Good and the Beautiful for unit studies. We will do their Paleontology and Marine Biology Units with the possibility of adding a third. We will be doing experiments and projects throughout the year.
For Language Arts we will be using Christian Light. Spelling and Vocabulary will be included.

We will be using a variety of curriculum including: Handwriting Without Tears, Christian Light Publishing for Math, Learn at Home (all in one curriculum) for science, social studies, reading and spelling, and Bob Jones for phonics and Language Arts . We will use a variety of readers including: Hooked on Phonics, Bob's Books, and Sonlight curriculum.
We will contact each parent after registering your child to find out what level they will be best suited for. You will also be required to get basic school supplies (the list will be below) AND purchase your Bob Jones phonics workbook for your child's reading level.
We will have a STRONG focus on phonics this year. Through hands-on style of learning, we hope to instill a love for learning that can meet and strengthen each individual student. We will cover skills in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts. We will also incorporate other fun activities for our students like field trips in the fall and spring, a show and tell month, spirit week (or month) and a party for every holiday. As a class we will also enjoy trips to the local park as weather permits.
Our electives this year are art and music.
There will be a $100 fee charged for the year for supplies. This covers our curriculum that will need to be purchased, art fees, any supplies that need to be purchased for parties and projects.

This year we will learn a lot through play. We will focus on math, reading, and handwriting skills using a multi sensory approach to reach all types of learners. We will use a variety of curriculum and games and all learning will happen gently. I plan to have a letter of the week with a corresponding Bible verse and fun treat to reinforce their phonics. We will also focus on fine and gross motor skills. We will have fun with science (including experiments and projects) and emphasize on character traits such as integrity and honesty. We will also have learning centers which will allow a few minutes for each child to work in small groups with me to work on their personal goals.
My goal is to make them love learning. The only curriculum needed for purchase is Christian Light Kindergarten II workbooks 1-5. One day a week this class will have art for 30 minutes one day and music for 30 minutes the other day. One day a library trip, a recess (PE) time
We will also incorporate other fun activities for our students like show and tell, field trips, and spirit week (or month). As a class we will also enjoy trips to the local park as weather permits and trips to the library's book mobile where they can check books out to take home (with your card and permission). (I limit them to two at a time to not overwhelm the parents)
There will be a $125 supply fee that will cover classroom supplies, phonics, treats, and art fee.

We will write a retelling for a classic character or story, compare and contrast books from film adaptations and also from fictionalized retellings through different perspectives to Bible stories. Using Master Books Highschool Biology, your student will take an exciting journey into the world of biology with a Christian perspective. Your homeschool students explore the amazing aspects of life, such as cells, ecosystems, genetics, and more, with a focus on Intelligent Design. By combining science with faith, students will gain a better understanding of biology while appreciating the beauty of creation.
Throughout this two semester course, students will learn about cells, genetics, and the environment, using hands-on activities and discussions to understand how everything works together in nature. They will explore the topics discussed through weekly labs - from dissecting organisms to DNA extraction.

Homework Expectations: For Senior High students, homework expectations will be more rigorous, involving in-depth readings, research assignments, and laboratory reports. Using Master Books Highschool Biology, your student will take an exciting journey into the world of biology with a Christian perspective. Your homeschool students explore the amazing aspects of life, such as cells, ecosystems, genetics, and more, with a focus on Intelligent Design. By combining science with faith, students will gain a better understanding of biology while appreciating the beauty of creation. Throughout this two semester course, students will learn about cells, genetics, and the environment, using hands-on activities and discussions to understand how everything works together in nature. Homework Expectations:

Class Description: Our class will focus on enhancing reading fluency, comprehension, and foundational math skills. Schoolwork and various curriculum will be based on each student's individual learning level, ensuring personalized attention and support. In reading, we will practice phonics and decoding, sight words,and improve comprehension through fun literature. For math, students will work on building core skills such as number recognition, basic operations, and problem-solving, with activities adjusted to match their current proficiency. Ideal for students grade 8, 9 and 10 (can be modified for close higher or lower grades)

Adventures in literature will be a parade of literature classics for Dr. Suess to Charles Dickens. Students will read and evaluate these pieces and discuss what constitutes "strong" writing. They will also identify techniques that authors use to communicate emotion, and draw the reader into the story.
Throughout the class we will apply what we learn to our own writing and build solid communication basics through creative writing.

Students will need:
access to a library or
purchase of books from the book list ( list to be released soon)
access to a computer and word processing software (Ideally, Google docs.)
a 2-inch 3-ring binder
